I went here with my boyfriend for some nice hiking. It was very crowded - not sure if we had a moment to ourselves in nature during the hike down to the falls. However, once we made it down we each took our turns dipping in the water which was fun and refreshing. However, once again, we had to dodge... More

My family and I hiked to La Mina falls while staying in San Juan post cruise. The water was cold but the waterfall was gorgeous. We stripped to our swimsuits and jumped in for photos. The one item we truly needed but didn't have were water shoes for the rocks. We all pushed through but the shoes would have made... More

Literally completely overrun with everyone from tourists to locals. Jammed with people, not even a place to sit. Lovely walk only to be rudely surprised by a spring break atmosphere. Look elsewhere if you are seeking solitude.

La Mina Falls in El Yunque can only be accessed by hiking one of two trails. 1) Big Tree Trailhead (KM 10.2) or 2) La Mina Trailhead @ Palo Colorado Info Center (KM 11.8). Both trails appear to provide some light exertion. We took the Big Tree Trailhead which is the first parking lot when driving up the mountain. We... More

Let's be honest the real reason to stop at the falls is that they are in El Yunque National Forest, other than that it is just a waterfall (small one at that). The hike in is roughly 1.5 miles (3 miles roundtrip) on a cement path and not strenuous if you are in decent shape. You will know you are... More

We drove. Best to skip the visitor's center. go straight to parking area. @30 minute hike one-way. paved and steps. slippery at times. wear sneakers, bring change of clothes/towel. crowded when we went midweek. very rocky If you decide to go into/under the falls. cold water. but worth every minute. Bumped into a couple on the way back who shared... More

Pretty easy hike on a paved path and stairs mostly. I prefer a bit more natural path but it was still enjoyable. I recommend getting there early to avoid the loads of visitors from cruise ships. Don't need to stop at the park information center. Just continue straight and head right at the fork up the mountain and you'll see... More

Many people, especially the younger ones, enjoyed the water falling all over them. It takes a bit of hiking to get to it, but very nice.

Wonderful waterfall. Only problem its right on the roadway so you have to be careful. The cars are scary but the waterfall was very refreshing on a hot summer day

The best part of the yunque is this waterwall! The spot for the pictures! The water is very cold. Vey rocky, be aware is not recommened for people with physical disabilities. Its a little challenging.
