Good beach for the kids.

Vieques has no shortage of great beaches, and Sun Bay is no exception. Great for lazing on the beach and swimming. No snorkeling. The sand is great for sand castles.

Sun Bay is a long, wide beach lined with swaying palms. The sand is soft, white and powdery. The water clear with gentle waves. This is a public beach with facilities and a food cafe so I imagine it can get fairly crowded. There are also several food trucks outside the entrance. Entrance fee is $4.

Close to Esperanza and easily located off of road 997. Nice palm tree to sit under and picnic areas. Many people camp here as well. There are bathroom facilities (bring your own toilet paper) and food and snacks can be purchased. You almost always see horses in this area and roosters. This a state park beach.

This was the first beach we visited on Vieques and it is a lovely stretch of beach that is somewhat remote and quiet. The day we visited (Sunday), we saw under thirty people at the beach. This is the only beach on the south shore that has restrooms and food service. The little restaurant serves some of the best Pina... More

We came on a Sunday afternoon and there were 23-25 mph winds. After paying $4 to get in there is a big parking lot that was totally empty. We followed the car ahead of us that got us a lot closer to the beach. There was hardly anybody there and it was a little walk to get to restrooms that... More

This is the most famous beach in Vieques since there are bathroom facilities, a restaurant onsite and even a $10p/nt campground with security! The view is wonderful but the sunset spectacular! Jumping into the water is probably not the best for little kids (0-5yrs) due to the fairly larger waves, but kids older than Kindergarten will enjoy it. This is... More

The main beach of the island and its certainly a good place to spend an afternoon. the sand for the most part is clean and offers plenty of space for bathing. There is ample parking and toilets available. Its also a nice place to walk and you can access other beaches close by with ease.

We went there Tuesday March 14th to spend a fun day for our large family group at Sun Bay Beach. The day we went no one was at the gate and so we entered on the left side (exit) and saved what I understand to be four dollars per vehicle. Apparently a gate attendant is there most weekends and sporadically... More

February 2016 we spent a week in Vieques. We had a Jeep and spend our time exploring beaches and the entire Island. This is one of the beaches that we visited more than once. And it's probably one of my favorites of all time. It's a must-see while on Vieques.
