We spent a few hours walking around the Gardens...what a stunning display of flowers and trees. The rope bridges were awesome! So much fun, especially for the kids. There is wonderful large playground for younger kids too. Some great views, lots of flowers of all kinds, decent signage too. Had a great time. There's plenty of shade provided by the... More

This is a well planned semi formal garden that features many of the local trees and flowers of Martinique. The path is easy to follow and there are quite a few resting places along the way. The over head suspended walkway is fun to do but doesn't really add to your view of the grounds. There are several great views... More

Woefully signposted, the jardins are just off the national road about 5km out of Fort De France, but high in the mountains. The gardens are nicely laid out and easy to navigate through with clear signs throughout. There are also plenty of little huts to stop in along the paths in case it rains or you just want a break.... I have been twice, both in the rain and sunshine and it hasn't disappointed. The hummingbirds are amazing to watch, and i love the tree top walk.

The botanical garden is rather small and a visit can be done in about 45 minutes. The most interesting thing for me were the hummingbirds drinking nectar at the veranda of the house near the entrance.

The Jardin de Balata is a really nice place. Whether you come with your children, your beloved one or your friends, you can be sure that you'll spend a nice moment there. Everything is well-explained, so you don't need to take the audio device (cost 3 or 4 euros) and you'll be given a map anyway. The gardens are beautiful... More

An excellent place to experience the wildlife of Martinique while staiyng safely on paved road. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes for a walk up between the treetops- it is most probably the highlight of your visit to the Jardin de Balata. Also, if you come with a small car be careful where you park as the road out is... More

The Jardin de Balata is a "must visit" if you're in Martinique - the plants are beautiful, the air clean and the views spectacular. We went early morning to avoid the crowds and had the tree top section to ourselves - meaning we could take our time and appreciate the views. The little gift shop also sells Nespresso Coffee, so... Unfortunately, we had some significant rain on the day we visited Martinique. The foliage was beautiful nonetheless. It is rather hilly, so those with limited mobility might want to skip this attraction. We took the time to cross the suspension bridges, which were a bit of a thrill and challenge for those of us a little uncomfortable with heights.

Most famous garden on Martinique which comes at a cost, but it's really nice surely when you love gardens and photographing (not only flowers, but also birds or lizards). A map with a route makes it easy to see it all and miss nothing. The tree boardwalk is also fun for kids as is the playground.
