great location - beautiful views over the sea and coast - love to watch the boats come and go. But all a bit run down and tired - its part of the attraction I know. A few dodgy drug deals going on not overly attractive

Villa on the Bay is a newly renovated, spacious villa with an absolutely stunning view atop of Marigot Bay . We were looking for a very special house to host a family gathering of 8 adults and 2 children in St Lucia. This home worked out perfectly. It has a large open floor plan flowing onto extensive decks with ample outdoor teak furniture and 5 en suite bedrooms. The location in Marigot Bay is ideal for exploring the northern and southern parts of the island--from Pigeon Island to the Pitons. But, frankly, its hard to leave the house! We spent hours on the pool deck watching what has to be some of the most beautiful boats in the Caribbean come in and out of the harbor.
While some of our group hiked the Pitons, highly recommend chartering the Lady Anne for a half day and approaching the majestic Pitons from the water. Also recommend day trip to Sugar beach.

Beautiful bay. Had a wonderful week staying at Marigot Hotel. Felt privileged to be staying there with such wonderful views. Staff were helpful. Loved the ferry/tug across water which was quick to appear whenever needed. Part of the beach reserved for hotel guests, lovely. We watched amazing sunsets from here. Hotel also had sunbathing area with steps into the sea, great snorkling. The beach had a food/drink kiosk and various services. You are approached initially so that they can tell you what is available but after that were no bother. We did buy drinks and had a fabulous lunch from the hut on beach, really good and cheaper than hotel food, even delivered to our deck bed. Also a wonderful massage on the beach, very professional, read the reviews for Hands on the Beach. Also hired kayark and went all around the bay admiring the yachts and property. Did kayark out of Bay to see Roseau Bay just around the corner. Only negative is that you need to get a taxi to go anywhere. Plenty of drivers available though. About 20 minute walk to bus stop, which we did try but mainly used a friendly taxi driver with their local knowledge. Our hotel room was basic but comfortable with great view. We were above reception but it was very quiet which suited us. We opted for daily clean (no extra charge), floor mopped daily and felt welcoming and clean. Large covered balcony area, we enjoyed. There was one day of rain when we had decided to visit Castries and then bus to Rodney Bay. As we left the receptionist chased after us with an umbrella, goodness were we grateful. We had a late flight on our last day, hotel helpful and allowed us to use a room to change in before leaving for airport. Ate at 3 restaurants around the bay, Doolittles was attached to hotel and they looked after us well. Watched many tour boats visit and leave the bay felt lucky to actually be staying there.

This was a neat little area but not the best area for sunbathing and swimming. The beach is small and for the hotel residents. We drove in on one side and you have to take ferry to beach and restaurant. The ferry is free if you eat at Doolittles or for the hotel guests. This is also a docking spot for yachts.

It looked like a nice place but not much else going on. Lacked vibrancy and this could be possibly the timing when we were there. We tried out a couple of their restaurants, one for drinks and one for patries.I don’t believe I would go out of my way to visit again.

We visited here recently and I was very disappointed, even though the bay looks very pretty it is really somewhere to take a photo and move on. The beach is very small and water is murky, even though I did swim it is rocky and when you put your feet down it’s like slimy mud. We had a drink in Doolittles restaurant and staff were far from pleasant. The venders to me were very nice and I didn’t hear any being rude to anyone else. We went on a water taxi to Marigot bay from the port and spent 4 hours there which was more than enough.

Stop here as part of a photo stop on a cruise excursion tour. We literally had 5 minutes to jump out and take a photo. You are high in the hills overlooking the bay which does look beautiful and really says you are in the Caribbean.
If you are going past stop and jump out, but I would not make a special trip to go there.

We visited this location on a Royal Carribbean excursion. Our guide, Angus, was the best guide we had on our whole trip. He was informative and humorous.
Once we arrived at Marigot Bay we were told we had to pay the boat to take us to the bay. Mr. Bravo, the person in charge of the boat taxi said none of us were pd so we all had to pay to go across. Now it was $2 per person but still...several were mad and irritated that this was taken care of by the chartering company RC used. Who knows the truth of the matter but it put a damper on the day.
The details of the excursion mentioned shopping. There really wasn't shopping more than a few huts of people selling all the stuff you saw in the port.
The water and beach look beautiful but not too clear when in it.
We didn't eat at Mr./Dr. Doolittle's but people that were on our excursion that ate there said it was EXPENSIVE. There didn't seem to be many food options so we just didn't eat the whole time there.
I was really excited about this excursion but it didn't live up to all I hoped.

Stayed with another couple at the Zoetry Resort nearby and thought that we would visit this beach as it was close by and touted for snorkeling.
Reached there by ferry and found that the beach was littered with cigarette butts and beer bottle tops. The water was very murky and I would not go in.
Locals tried to sell us cocnut rum drinks at 9:30 AM , a little too early for us.
The highlight of the beach was watching one of the locals scale up and down a very tall palm tree to harvest more than a dozen coconuts.
Boarded the ferry again to take us to JJ's for lunch which had a lovely view but food was mediocre. Wished we had gone to Chateau Mygo instead which turned out to be one of our favorite restaurants, close by to where we stayed.
We will not be back to this bay.

Looks nice from a difference, but on landing beds are worn out, rubbish in several places. Staff promise the world but don’t deliver. Don’t eat the food from the shacks, staff get intoxicated. On return, water taxi stops at a cave to coax more money for jumpers. Very intimidating.

Can you avoid the cruise ship rush hour, when staying at Margot Beach resort?
When is cruise season there?
Written March 10, 2023
Cruise ships can’t come into the bay - too small. There are boat cruises that come into the bay from cruise ships but they don’t typically stop. There’s not a lot to do there and limited restaurants.

Bonjour Steve,

Will be going to St. Lucia in August and staying in Marigot Bay. I need some things to do(i.e. excursions, night life, food). Also we have 4 people in the group that are “Beach Snobs” and are anticipating laying out, drinking and swimming all day. Any and all recommendations and tips will be greatly appreciated in advance!

No real beaches at Marigot bay. There are some good restaurants around the resort, but you should count on bringing your own fun and night life. That’s what we did. Across the harbor from Capella resort is a little park with a tiny beach. The locals who hang out here can help with your fun. Ask for a guy named “Discount “. He’s a good guy. His real name is Camillius. He and his friends caught us some fresh snapper and barbecued it on the beach for us and also provided us with a delicious salad fresh from his garden. It was a great evening. The St. Lucian people are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They are very friendly. We loved it there, mainly because the locals and resort staff were so nice.

What's best way to get here from cruise terminal. How much would a taxi be and if you want to go to beach do water taxis which I see is $1. Do they take $US.?
Written January 6, 2018
I believe it was $30 (US) round trip for the taxi and the ferry was $1. Both took $US.

Which resort Landings or Marigot by Capella for an 11 year old boy?
Are amenities similar?
Written September 7, 2017
Landings by far. Marigot Capella is beautiful and romantic but is quite isolated compared to The Landings which has kids clubs, is near Rodney Bay with all its facilities including a Water Park, child friendly restaurants and much more.

Is this a good place to go for a casual beach day?
Written July 12, 2017
Yes absolutely it is idyllic. if arriving by sea berthing at the small marina gives access to the lovely pools at the hotel but if by road there is a great water taxi service a delightful small beach fringed by palm trees, famously featured in Dr. Doolittle and I think in Pirates of the Caribbean. Lots of restaurants around Marigot Bay and a great bar over the water serving fish dishes.

Hi- My husband and I are arriving in St. Lucia on a cruise in Feb 2017. We have done a complete island tour with Cosol Tours a couple years ago, so we are looking for a nice beach for the day. How would you recommend getting to this beach from the cruise port? Are there chairs and umbrellas and food available? did you use a tour or taxi service. Thank you for any information.

We actually did not go on the 'regular" beach in Marigot Bay which requires taking a water taxi to the other side. Instead we took an afternoon boat tour one day and from our villa walked to a cove. We had confirmed rental car but alas when we got there all the cars were rented! In the end we hired Winsbert's Taxi Service, a taxi driver/tour guide who was fantastic! This site won't let me post his contact information.
