A pretty church and clearly an important site. The rafters are full of bats and they poop....Also, if you stop for a second you will be approached for a donation to the "grounds keeper". I don't mind helping out, but being approached makes me uncomfortable.

Mass at the Church of the Assumption was a special experience. The deep faith of the parishioners was evident throughout the 2+ hour service. A worshipper graciously shared her hymnal and mass book with us since you must bring your own.

A cool oasis in a hot busy city. Unusual décor and detailing. Absolutely in the centre of town, easy to find but if you have a car then park in the multi-storey at the north of the market

Sunday morning Mass is at 8:30 A.M. It is somewhat more formal than many Catholic services in the USA, with, for example, the servers all wearing cassocks and surplices and incense used to honor the altar, the Gospel book, the priest and the congregation, as...More

Looks nothing much from the outside but the interior blows you away. Beautiful painted wooden ceiling and stunning stained glass windows.

We when to the town to buy some stuff to take home, fridge magnet etc. Food is cheap and nice. Then we found the church that was beautiful inside. My daughter got a lovely picture with 2 of the nuns out side. Great experience worth...More

Beautiful singing at Sunday mass in this historic church. Friendly people. We particularly enjoyed seeing the beautiful children in their Sunday best. Note: locals do dress up for Mass.
