About
Centrally located on Tortola's north side, this is probably the busiest beach since its beauty is often compared to Magen's Bay on St. Thomas.

This is a beautiful beach, with a few clothing/ gift shops and a distillery down the road. We were part of an excursion here and it did not disappoint one bit. We rented 2 chairs and a unbrella for 25, had a snack, went swimming, all in 4 hours. It was a great get away, would definately recommend.

Our second visit to Tortola. This is a busy beach due to cruise ships (so we were part of the problem) but its safe to swim with calm water. If coming from the port the taxi / shuttle is $12 a head each way, most pay for a return. If you want quieter walk to the far end of the beach however the sunbeds get more expensive $40 rather than $25. The little drink stalls (same people who manage the sunbeds) are quite reasonably priced if you fancy a beer or soft drink.

The views were amazing! Easy to get to via taxi from Tortola port. We only paid $12 pp for the ride there, but out friends paid round trip and had to take a specific taxi back. I recommend paying 1 way that way you can leave to go back to the ship whenever you'd like. Our taxi driver dropped us off at a spot on the beach with complimentary chairs and umbrellas. Gorgeous views! Inexpensive drinks. We walked to the end to the 400 year old distillery:) I don't know that I need to go back to the distillery again, but it was a fun walk down the beach and across the street from the lavender house. $1 for 5 rum tastes!

This beautiful beach can be reached from the port where the ship docks via a taxi service lasting about 20 minutes that takes you and picks you up at the time you decide with the other occupants of the taxi. When you arrive you have the opportunity to take a parasol with two sunbeds and you have the bar service directly at the beach. You also have free wifi if you take the sunbeds and you can enjoy this wonderful mare.Da do without problems because it deserves

We stopped here for a couple hours on the “included” excursion from our Viking cruise which showed us around the island. What an awesome spot for beautiful views & to enjoy a cold beer (or the ever present “rum punch”). We also stopped by the nearby Callwood Distillery. Definitely worth stopping, whether for a short time or the whole day!

We spent 2 hours here as part of an excursion from the Disney Fantasy and I really enjoyed it. It's a really beautiful beach, the water is easy to get in and out of, the sand was lovely and soft, there were no shells, rocks or seaweed in the water. It was nice and deep to be able to have a good swim.
There are lots of bars serving drinks along the beach, but we didn't get one. Bathroom amenities could be better.

Realy good, rickshaw taxi ride over mountains with spectacular views. Staff extremely friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. They except cards at no extra charge. Sun beds $30 per set. $24 round trip per person taxi . Great beaches well worth the trip

Came here from the cruise ship, things must have gone down hill since last review a year ago.
Bad points
1. It costs $24 each to get to the beach from the cruise ship, this is in a shared bus
2. If it has had rain in previous days do not go as all the insects come out. I walked across this beach only for 15 mins and was bitten 40 times.
3. Saw sewage being pumped into the beach, I’m surprised you can’t see from Google satellite images as there was a clear brown trail when I went from beach to the sea.
4. If you come here from a cruise expect to see nothing but people. This isn’t relaxing or beautiful
Good points
Rum distillery near by
Nice views from beach to sea, the sand is covered with people and insects (that you can’t see)

Arrived at Port on a cruse ship. Walked through the shops at the port to the far side..
Just ask one of the guys there which bus to the beach. Fare is $12 each way per person and you pay for your return trip (ie no single fares). If you decide you want a taxi it would be the same cost from what they said. Buses run back to the ship every hour and there is no chance you will get left behind.
Takes about 20 minutes to get there. Once there there are plenty of facilities - usual souvenir stalls, bars and plenty of food choices. Food isn't brilliant and I suggest you stick to the simpler things on the menu. Jumbo prawns I had were pretty poor for $25! Bucket of 6 beers for $20 was pretty good I thought.
Lounger x2 plus table and umbrella $25...
Beach itself was lovely and if you stay over to far sides you will see the pelicans diving for the fish. Snorkeling in the main bit isn't worth it.. Go the far sides if you want to snorkel.
Tortola itself is a beautiful island...

Took the open air taxi service to Cane Garden Bay, which is $12.00 per person each way or $24.00 round trip. We were on a cruise and didn't buy the excursion on the ship. Much too expensive. There are several people that sell the service to the beach at Cane Garden Bay. They give you a wrist band to show you paid and you can return on any open taxi that is available. The beach is popular so go early. Beautiful beach clear water. We spent a few hours there and really enjoyed it. Your cost for 2 chairs and umbrellas are $20.00 extra and is well worth it.

Hello Carla,
We’re visiting Tortola on 31/12/23 by a cruise ship, your review was helpful and I wondered if you had the phone number of the taxi driver you used.
Many years ago we visited we think it was cane garden bay and my husband and I remember walking along the beach we saw head stones. We think it’s was cane garden bay. We also visited pussers bar, but I believe now theses two of theses famous bars on the island.
Lovely to read of your experience. Any help would be appreciated.thank you.

There is alot of cabs at the port you can get. Another fun stop if you want to see the whole island would be to go to Peg Leggs bar in Nanny Cay. It is somewhat on the way. Itis a great place for local color and a drink whilel you walk by all the boats in a big marina.

We will be staying at a private residence at cane bay. We were wondering if there taxis available, or if a rental car is required.
Written September 25, 2022
Small town, steep hills. I saw no taxi’s, but local’s seem willing to transport. I wouldn’t rent a car in those hills

Is it easy to catch a cab to AND from Cane Garden Bay to the cruise terminal? Not interested in getting stranded at the beach. Thanks
Written September 9, 2019
Yes, it is easy, but it is better to set up a pick up time with your driver for your ride back to the cruise terminal. It is the closest of the nice beaches easily within reach from the harbour.

We will be arriving in Tortola on June 14th on the Carnival Sunrise. We have 4 adults and 3 children ages 10, 8 and 5. We would like to get to Cane Garden Bay from the cruise port. What would a shuttle or taxi charge for our party of 7 and is this beach easy to get to. Sounds like the perfect beach location for our family. We would also need umbrellas and chairs to rent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Mini busses are very close to the dock about 150m walk. We paid extra for the minibus as the driver wanted to wait until it was full. This happened to us in Cayman islands and was not very pleasant. Umbrellas and loungers were around $10US each if I remember correctly. Plenty of bars to get drinks and food. Stunning view going down to Cane garden bay.

Distance from the Port ( Will be on The Edge from Celebrity ) Approx. time to get there, costs for travel back & forth, chairs & umbrella's ( I'm a bit pasty, but wife loves the beach) and is there a restroom to change attire & food & beverage. Will be there February 27th & want to get there before the crowds. Boat excursios don't start till 1pm. Forget that, my boat leaves at 6pm.
Thanks

Hi,
I am going on a Caribbean cruise in a few months and was planning on visiting the bay, I have seen that it takes around 30 minutes in a taxi from the port and was wondering how much this would cost?
Thank you in advance.
Written December 30, 2018
most cruise lines arrange taxis to take passengers to CGB, so this may be included in your price, or check with the cruise line. another option - if you want to spend a day seeing small private bays and away from the crowds, you may want to look into a speed boat day charter, especially if you have a group of people. they can take you to some beautiful places that others will not get to

Is Quito’s open and functional? Do bands not play there anymore? How about a dollar wedding at the other end of the beach is that still around and open? Any news on the mongoose apartments? Are they back in business yet? Are there any notable bars or restaurants in CGB that are closed or not operating anymore?
Written December 14, 2018
Everybody in CGB is open. Music playing. New hotel is open. Cruise ships are dumping their passengers again. The beaches are white, water is warm and clear, and the drinks are cold
