The beaches and the scenery were spectacular!! You are on the strip of land between the Carribean and the Atlantic. These are the best beaches to swim and snorkel at in the country. The drive itself is an adventure and offers stunning scenery!

The South Peninsula is less developed than other parts of the island. The vegetation is mainly scrubby, not tropical like on the main part of the island. The roads are narrow, but offer spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, as well as neighboring island Nevis. There are some fantastic beaches and great restaurants, and it is more private and secluded than the more touristy areas. The South Peninsula is crawling with monkeys who can be seen in the morning and evening hours. There are lots of trails for walking, biking or ATVs. It's worth a drive out there to explore.

This is essentially the roads going from most resorts to the southernmost beaches, the nicest ones around. It is not as perilous as some have suggested, although the roads are not well kept, and you have to drive slowly. Some areas, and on top of certain hills like Sir Timothy's you have great views, but unfortunately, like a lot of the island, garbage is everywhere, and some places are downright disgusting. I only wish the government there would do something about the garbage that is unbelievable, and has already destroyed a few beaches and areas.

This is one of the best views in St Kitts. Up Timothy Hill, walk or take transport but get up there is see the panoramic views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean. It is picturesque, the colour and intensity of the blue green water is spectacular. This is one place where you realise the Caribbean is paradise.

We took the "Sea Bridge" car ferry from Majors Bay in St. Kitts to Nevis. Based on the rates posted online, the ferry should have cost us about 51 USD - for a car, driver, and one passenger. Although the sign at the ferry states that passengers should pay before embarking, when we tried to pay, the woman at the booth told us to pay the captain on the boat. After we were already underway, the captain told us we had to pay 125 USD. We disputed the cost, stating that we looked it up online and it should only be 51 USD. He gave some illogical response that he "does not work for the internet“ and we should have called him to inquire about the cost. We noticed that he was charging disparate prices to passengers, including $175 to a car with 4 passengers, and only $10 each for a couple on a motorcycle. After arguing with the captain for more than 15 minutes to no avail, and concerned that he would not let us board to return to St. Kitts, we gave him all the cash we had on us, which was $80.

The next day I told a local businessman about this crook, and he said that this captain charges the advertised amount to locals but if he knows you’re a tourist, he will jack up the price, and most tourists don't dispute the cost. He advised us (and others in the shop) to tell the captain that we lived on St. Kitts, we knew what the price was, and not to pay more than the price advertised, which advice was too late for us.

DON'T PAY THIS CROOK MORE THAN THE PRICE POSTED ONLINE!

We took a taxi to the beach and on our way there the scenery was amazing! The mountains was something I never seen before and we drove up and down them. Taxi guy stopped here so we could take pictures of the Peninsula and gave us some facts on it ! Great view over all, something you see in tv.

I'd give this beautiful part of St Kitts five stars but the roads out to it are terrible with potholes an sections crumbling. Still worth going, but navigate slowly. Unfortunately the taxi drivers take it too quickly!

What a great view of the Atlantic and Caribbean sides, separated by a thin strip of land. You can see Nevis in the distance. Thanks to Royston for showing us this, and explaining the volcanic origins.

Stopped at a viewpoint to take in the stunning views of Nevis etc.

Not much else to say really, plenty of photo opportunities & the usual crop of locals trying to sell you crap.

St. Kitts has some very poor parts of the island. However, this is not one of them. I went solo as we had only 1 day on the island during a cruise, and my family was doing other things... and I'm so glad I went. The Atlantic side was empty because the currents are dangerous. However, right on the other side of the highway, is a beautiful lagoon that is clear, calm and awesome for swimming and snorkeling. You won't regret the photo ops on the way. I wish I could remember the taxi driver who had room for 6 but took me anyway. And, he gave me a fresh mango from his home! I didn't like mangos until I had his and wasn't hesitant to try it but I'm so glad I did. It tasted so good. He made me feel comfortable, told me the history of the island, and was reasonably priced and very prompt. Just another plus for visiting this island. You will not regret it.
