Visited as part of a day excursion from our cruise ship so, unfortunately, didn't have very long at this beautiful place. The gardens were outstanding but we didn't get chance to sample any of the menu. We learnt later that this was where some of the staff from the cruise ships come to spend their downtime. Lovely place, wish we could have just stopped here for the day really.

What a lovely relaxing place. We were meet by very friendly staff who supplied us with towels and the rest was up to us. We chose a bed overlooking the port and the ship which was a gentle 20 minute walk away. The staff were so attentive, attending to our every need. The place quickly became busy so obviously a popular location for the day. It was very neat and tidy and very clean. What a nice way to spend a day in St Kitts if you don’t want to follow the crowds or get rushed around on some excursion.

visited this place as local to our accomodation, for a lunch as they are not open for dinner. I wish they were, the food was superb, the service was great and the location is one of the best views of Basseterre we saw. Would highly recommend.

Did I just go on the wrong day? After reading the splendid reviews I was very disappointed in my experience here. 4 of us paid $15 each to go in on a beautiful day. I ordered a juice which cost over $4 the others had a beer. My drink was nothing more than a glass of cordial. The staff obviously hate their jobs and it showed (I did tip by the way before tasting my drink) Not one thank you or smile (the exception being the girl on the entrance gate. She was very pleasant) It was mainly used by staff from our cruise ship who get complimentary admission. We were situated underneath some palm trees. A very large branch fell from the tree missing my son in law by inches. It is no exaggeration to say had this hit him he would have been very badly injured to say the least. The noise of the crash alerted the staff. They just asked if we wanted an ambulance. No apologies whatsoever. A beautiful setting completely ruined by ruined by rude miserable staff.

Response from Palmscourtgardens, General Manager at Palms Court Gardens & Restaurant

Dear visitor Usually, at the beginning of a management response, we express our thanks and respect for each visitor who has taken his/her time and effort to leave a feedback for us; regardless if it is applauding or unflattering, for we do respect everybody's opinion. Mistakes in a business can happen, every wait staff or the chefs in the kitchen may have a bad day once in a while (as we all have), after all they are humans with their personal problems as everybody else, and not robots. In this present situation though I can express neither, because we, who have been involved with serving and tending to the author of this review, are totally taken aback about how bluntly anybody could twist and turn the truth for reasons unfathomable to us. Is it, because a big fussy attempt about not much really, was merely to trying to receive a complimentary item or refund and it did not fall on fertile ground? Maybe your chair neighbor was right then when he said to me, before he took off to the pool because he and his wife were disturbed by your continued complaints, that the whole commotion was only in hindsight of receiving a comp, that he is observing this kind of behavior here and there on the ship, and added, that he will be very disappointed in me if I would give in. In the interest of future visitors let me describe our own perception of the situation. First of all let me start with the pricing. Our Day Pass charge of US$ 15.00 is the lowest on the island, the ones from the other resorts are settled between 35.00 - 59.00 USD. A lower price for a juice (ours is exactly US$ 4.00 incl. service charge and local taxes) is only available at one of the beach bars, since there is not much overhead cost involved at the beach, opposed to the maintenance of a large pool and garden at a resort. If each one of our visitors would pay only for the Day Pass and consume one juice (or beer for the matter) during the entire visit, we'd have to close our doors very soon and send the staff home. To make a review valuable for a business, it would be helpful to say which item (juice in this case) it was that wasn’t liked and/or found too expensive, so that we would be given the opportunity to check into this in detail to find out if there is potential for improvement. I can understand, that any kind of juice can taste bland, when the start of your visit was already dimmed because you noticed, and maybe felt sour because of it, that crew members do not pay a Day Pass fee upon entrance, because you didn't know that we have special arrangements with the ships. I can also understand, that one can get startled, if a bundle of seed pods is coming down from a Palm tree next to one’s lounger. But we can absolutely not understand how and why somebody would twist and turn the truth claiming it was a large branch (palm trees do not have branches by the way only leaves, which come down slowly along the trunk due to the way the leave is attached to it) and that it could have caused a serious injury. Other than leaves, there are dried up bundles of old seed pods on a palm tree (light in weight) for they only come down once they are dry. The dangerous part of a coconut palm, when lying underneath, are really the coconuts themselves, as they are heavy in weight and could really cause a serious injury if it falls on somebody’s head. That’s why our management, together with our gardener, are always making sure that the nuts are cut off before they become ready to fall. So when this bundle of dried seed pods came down next to your son in law’s lounge chair, it was not him or the seed pods alerting our staff, but a noisy dispute started by you, who alarmed the nearby waitress and me, the operations manager. What doesn’t make sense to me either is, that you would say our staff appeared like they are hating their job; for I experience the opposite on a daily basis. And especially, because the waitress who has been looking after you, Alexian, is one of our sweetest and warmest servers, and anybody who had the pleasure of being served by her would agree. Palms Court Gardens is a small family owned resort, and our team, including the owners, are like family. If a staff would hate their job here, we would not allow them to be part of our team. The vast majority of reviews regarding the friendliness of our staff is confirming this notion. Further, your claim that we offered to call an ambulance is another made up story, for we definitely did not, since it was very obvious that there was none needed. But what we did was to look after you, trying our best to calm you down and to help and assist you to change the location to a tree-free area. I agree though to what you say in your first sentence, that you probably did come on the wrong day; seen from your perspective. For as far as we have experienced this day, including the other visitors I have spoken to during the course of the day, everybody was happy and it was a wonderful, beautiful day. Maybe you had a different experience on that day, due the law of attraction, as always in life, which had spoilt your day. In this sense we are wishing you many happy days to come and pleasant and easy future cruising.
