To get to this touristy venue you had to pass a tropical rainforest and some rough roads. (It was worth it). Then we had to go through Romney Manor, a former plantation with its outstanding gardens and art displays which was much more pleasant. There were batik demonstrations done by skilled artisans at “The Shop” built in 1976. Of course there were various batik products on display and souvenirs for sale, some of which were one-of-a-kind. Close by were a restaurant/bar, bathrooms and a huge parking lot full of tourist buses taking advantage of the site.

The Actual Batik is 5 stars port Zante is barely a one star -I went in to buy a wrap today and both girls working there were so rude and extremely unhelpful, like they could not be bothered, so I left because of how they treated me in the past 5 visits to at Kitts lv visited batik 7 times and purchased every pillow cover fan wrap and two tops multiple other items on the premises and when I went to port Zante shop on January 23, 2023, the two women were not friendly and even treated me like they couldn’t be bothered by a paying customer.the premises of the actual boutique are great friendly people, but the store at Zante lost a sale today, regarding the items and not the staff at the port -Fantastic colors, beautiful garden, charming staff, nostalgic past loved this stop, bought pillow covers and a beautiful big fan the staff at the store where they make items are always nice

Interesting to know the method of batiking….items in shop beautiful but prices extortionate.
Cafe facilitators would be a boon!

This was our one must-see destination on our recent Royal Caribbean Cruise. My wife makes reproduction Victorian Costumes and is always looking for a different fabric style to design her next dress. We've been to two different places like this and they always deliver something unique.

Not certain if having two separate profiles for Romney Manor and Caribelle Batik makes total sense as visiting one means you are visiting both since Caribelle Batik is part of Romney Manor and it's literally in the center of it upon arrival - though considering Romney Manor is more of a Botanical Garden type of serene experience I can see how maybe the latter deserve a separate attention :)

So you know already that you get a deal here as it's 2 in 1 (for $3 USD per adult, or free during days without cruise ship in town when we visited apparently) - but what you probably don't know that you can also walk from here to Wingfield Estate next door so you are are getting 3 in 1 without moving the car - outstanding value for your time as each of the places provides something different and unique.

We had seem similar "color crafting tour" in Bora Bora, FP but still enjoyed the mini free presentation and asking question on how things are done differently here - I am not into this type of stuff normally but I found it really interesting and fascinating - especially the stages/steps how each project is done - the prices of their products aren't low but once you learn how this is made you will not only understand it why but also appreciate it for the time, effort and skill that is put into each single creation!

The outside "display" of colors is super eye catchy and a fun stop to take a picture - for many it just may be nothing, but learning how much work goes into each single one of these pieces made me feel differently about it in a very positive way!

TIP: make sure to wander around the peaceful Romney Manor and chill at the bar/view area right next to the exit of the CB store - I have added a couple pictures of what to expect (you can get something to drink there) - also make absolutely sure to go via the pathway from RM to Wingfield Estate - see my separate reviews on both on how to visit them without moving your car - all next door and super cool experience - I would say coming here and not taking advantage of all 3 attractions is simply losing out on what St Kitts has to offer :)

I first visited St. Kitts and Caribelle in 1998. I fell in love with the artistry and beauty of the various items of batik iand bought a dress which I still have and wear from time to time. I've been there a few more times with the most recent being late January of this year. The site itself is lush with many flowers and groomed gardens all surrounded by an incredible forest.

The quality and variety of batik items are simply stunning. Naturally I had to make purchases. This time I chose a lovely turquoise and blue long dress, a top that' has various shades of blue from light to dark and a long sash to match the dress.

I could have spent hours wandering the grounds and the shop, but I was only a tour so had limited time. Maybe one day I'll go back for a longer visit.

Very beautiful place to visit, lots of large old trees
$3 US entrance fee is worth it, bring your camera to take great pictures, informative on how they produce their clothing and accessories

Enjoyed our stop at Caribelle Batik. Gardens are lovely. 400 year old tree is magnificent. Batik work is of high quality and unique design. Demonstration lacked enthusiasm, however. Regardless, the finished products are very much worth the trip. Note: if you can’t make it to Romney Manor, there is a Caribelle Batik shop selling a smaller selection of the same products at the Port.

We came here on a shore excursion. It is in the gardens of Romney Manor which are the highlight of a visit here. They give a short demonstration of how they create the colorful fabrics. The store has pillows and different batik goods. Batik is made by drawing dots with a spouted tool and applying wax.
