We were keen to explore this site with its historical connection to Nelson. It took a little finding and requires an off road vehicle for parts of the road up (or you could hike up but it would be hard work!). Not well signposted so do your research first. Fabulous views.

A little tricky to find the starting point, but once you see the blue Heritage sign which is just off the main road on a tight bend, follow the single track road up to the blue information board and park in this area. Try and go on a clear day with a little breeze if possible, trainers, shorts and t... More

if you are into hiking in semi rough conditions, then this is a good trek to make....the way up is mostly on old construction and plantation roads...now a bit rough, but easily walkable in good running shoes...the trail to the lookout, can be accessed at several places and should be taken to appreciate the jungle and plant life. The actual lookout... More

Take time out for Nelson's lookout for the same reason he did... Great vantage point on the Island - even on a cloudy day - do it!

Pleasant uphill walk with great views at the end. Finding the start was the tricky part, we left the main road by the chicken stone sign then took the second right. The turn off onto a single track road (see the map attached) soon made sense when we spotted an information board for the lookout and space to park off... More

Find out a little about this place before you go, and don't try to walk up in flip flops! It's a good idea not to be totally unfit either. It's a hill, there's very little shade , and the path is a bit rocky. But the view is great.

No guide is required - you can find a very easy to understand route map at https://hikingnevis.wordpress.com. This guides you from the main road, to the base of Saddle Hill where you can park and then up the dirt track to Nelson's Lookout. Be warned the terrain is slightly tricky and you definitely do need stout boots so not to... More

My husband and I walked here (with a helpful map from our inn) and thoroughly enjoyed exploring this area. Trail head up the hill is marked by a blue sign, but then the rest is unmarked. Having a guide or a map would be helpful. Be sure to find the abandoned bungalow, and take a short side trail (overgrown with... More
