There are no accommodations nearby so visitors must use tour service to access the protected sight and overnight visit is not possible. The Bush Bush sanctuary tour is exciting!! It's a naturally beautiful island within the Nariva Swamp, for protecting and regenerating many mammalian and bird species and for studying them. The boat trip from the Manzanilla Road is 15 minutes... More

I am no bird watcher but I was blown away by the scarlet ibis coming into roost for the night. The tree was transformed into a Christmas tree. We saw plenty of other wildlife as we made our way to the lakes through the swamp including a tree snake! Take a waterproof just in case as the boats have no... More

We met Stephen Broadbridge at Ellerslie Plaza and rode across trinidad to Nariva Swamp and Bush Bush nature sanctuary. We had two flat tires the day before on the way back from Asa Wright bird sanctuary and were quite nervous about driving in Trinidad. Stephen took us to breakfast and got doubles for my wife and son. The we met... More

I took a guided tour of Nariva Swamp in October, that took us to Bush Bush Island. First, it needs to be explained that this "island" is a forested hummock in the middle of the swamp. I was disappointed in that the boat tour part of the visit only lasted 20 min. I had expected to spend a couple of... More

I went to the Nariva swamp last year with a group of co -workers. The tour was via boat to a place called "Bush Bush".Where we walked around the area with the tour guide for about an hour or so. I really enjoyed that tour on the island, we saw some monkeys (howlers we were told.), a number of different... More

I toured a section of this swamp with Kayman Sagar a professional birding guide in the area on a two-person kayak which he paddled so that I was free to look for and photograph birds. His knowledge extended far beyond just birds and included intimate knowledge of the rest of the flora and fauna found in the area. During the... More

One of the few places to see wild macaws, howler and Capuchin monkeys, a nature lover's heaven. Kayak the Nariva swamp and head to the Bush-Bush area for a small hike - the best way to see it :)

I kayaked into Nariva again for the second time kayaking and my third visit. This is a great place to see a few birds that you won't in some of the other locations. Also, you may see some monkey; either howler or capuchin. A great nature experience.

Did a self guided tour in the process of doing some research in the swamp. It was my first time and I was in sheer shock at the expanse of land that there is. The area teems with wildlife early in the mornings, many birds and monkeys. It is a must for locals too.
