- msmith132022Annapolis, Maryland14 contributionsAmazing ViewsWe visited Point Udall mid morning since early mornings are not our thing. The views on the drive there are truly spectacular. Once we reached Point Udall, it was quiet, peaceful and we had the place to ourselves. Great place to take pictures. Be sure to walk down to the beach, very secluded. The only negative is that past visitors defaced the monument with stickers and writing. Such a same that people have not respected such a beautiful place.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten September 24, 2023
- B D4 contributionsAmazing view and piece of history.Don't miss this amazing view and piece of history. Eastern-most point of US territory, includes perfectly-designed monument and access to a hike. Plus, breath-taking views. Great drive to explore the eastern part of the island.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten November 29, 2023
- Carol GKokomo, Indiana51 contributionsBeautiful viewsDrove out on a Sunday afternoon and was surprised that it wasn't crowded. The views are breathtaking. I was disappointed that the sign stating farthest east point has been covered over. Of course, there are stickers, trash, and graffiti all over. Such a shame. Despite that, it's definitely worth the drive to see.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten January 7, 2024
- Travelingfool34Boston, Massachusetts30 contributionsAmazing vistaPoint Udall If you are looking for solitude, amazing views, exercise, fresh air and water – don’t miss this place. We drove there from the Buccaneer Resort (took about 30 minutes) and the drive was amazing. Not much traffic and great views (just watch out for the potholes that could swallow a car whole. We went mid-morning during the work week day and had the point all to ourselves. The views from up on top there are stunning. When they say there is no shade, they mean it. Plenty of water, sunblock and a hat are in order. A must do while you are in St. Croix.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 1, 2024
- Y W5 contributionsFirst sunrise in the US but more to offerWonderful scenery and relaxing spot. Not crowded if you go after the sunrise tours. Hike is moderate if you go to Isacc's Bay. Trail is gravel and dirt. No shade so bring sunscreen. No bathrooms so you need to rough it but the views are worth it. Bring water. Trail is a little overgrown in some spots so long pants or a maxi dress preferable.Visited May 2024Travelled soloWritten May 23, 2024
- Stephanie CMundelein, Illinois2,476 contributionsEasternmost pointIf you want to visit the easternmost point in the US. this is the place. The sundial called Millennium Monument was erected for the New Year's celebration in 2000. I drive was just under an hour ride from Fredericksted. The panoramic views surrounding Port Udall are instagram worthy.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 2, 2024
- Rose HChicago, Illinois11 contributionsGorgeous view, difficult hike!We drove up around midday, so we had the place to ourselves. The views were amazing and absolutely worth the drive. If you’re going to do the hike, wear long pants and supportive shoes. The “trail” is more like a path, and it’s very overgrown and uneven. Definitely not for casual hikers, young kids, or beginners. The beach at the end is lovely though!Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten August 30, 2024

Bucket list to watch the sunrise at Point Udall. A good amount of people show up to watch the sunrise, so I'd suggest to get there a bit earlier than sunrise to secure a great spot. Although, it's hard to miss it any place you sit/stand. The millennium monument is a great little piece of history too.

For my son's 15th birthday he wanted to start the day by being the first Americans to see the sunrise. We drove to Point Udall and sat and saw the most beautiful sunrise over the ocean. It is sad that the Point is better maintained. I know STX prides itself on not being super touristy, but I wish this had a little more flair to it.

It takes a moment to get here from any place on the island, especially considering the fact St Croix's shape but it's totally worth it. Very serene and peaceful place (especially during post COVID reopening times during which we visited) and pretty scenic.
The Millennium Monument is a fairly young addition to the island's landmarks but definitely a must while in St Croix - before we got here and read the info on the plaque we thought it's a "viking type" of structure to remind us that the Danish once ruled these lands but I guess we were wrong :))) it has nothing to do that but I will leave it up to your curiosity and imagination to discover it yourself!
Don't just stop by here, spend some time and enjoy the views; that being said there is no share or anywhere to hide from the scorching sun, and if you consider taking also from here the Isaac Bay Trail make sure to take plenty of water with you and come prepared as otherwise there is nothing in the area.
TIP: plenty of parking but I can see how many cars during regular tourist months outside of COVID times can make this place easily packed at times, just be patient people stop here and go - it's "just a stop" rather than place people will hang for hours at.

You must come early at least once to view the incredible sunrise from the Eastern most point in the US. We stayed close by and the drive from Villa Madeline was less than 15 minutes. We took our coffee and had a front row seat to watch the day begin so beautifully. Afterward we took the opportunity to hike before it got too hot to Jack and Isaac’s Bay . The trailhead is just before the viewing area on your right. The hike is easy but rewarding for the spectacular views of the ocean and island topography. I was able to take a quick dip in the ocean to cool off mid hike. Later in the day we made it a point to drive to the opposite end of the island to watch the sunset at the pier on the west side. For us it was a perfect day. I was feeling very blessed to view the sunrise and sunset on the same day on two different sides of the island. By the way do as others have suggested always leave your windows down and car unlocked as we did unfortunately see broken glass in the parking lot from car break ins.

Drive up from princesse area, took about 30 minutes, winding paved roads. Got there, another couple was already there. You can park right by the stone wall, lock your doors when you get out, just to be safe. Wait for the sun to rise and take some great pictures, got one with the sun shining through the monument. It is a little windy, bring a jacket until the sun shines, bug spray good idea, little noseeums up there.

Drove to Point Udall from Sugar Beach located just to the West of Christiansted. It took just under 45 minutes. Followed others’ recommendations and emptied the car and left it unlocked parked alongside the road near the monument. Took some pictures at the sundial sight and then hiked 20 minutes down to Issak Bay. Set up camp under a natural tree lean to and enjoyed an hour of snorkeling and relaxing. There were a handful of others enjoying this area in and out of the water. Next we hiked another 20 minutes to Jack Bay. The area was well marked with signs but felt very remote. I was not comfortable staying here alone while my husband went out snorkeling and he also agreed the surf was a bit rough to make it fun. We found the trail and headed back. On our way we passed a picnic shelter occupied by some older teens but I still didn’t feel like staying. Would do the whole hike and beach break again. Good for 7,000 steps. Bring water and sunscreen. No services. Including internet.

It's a gorgeous view of the water off St. Croix. One of the iconic places to see when exploring St. Croix. We were told that New Year's Eve celebrations have taken place there every year since 2000 with hundreds of people making the trek up to Point Udall, the highest point on St. Croix. A beautiful place to view the sunrise!

This is a must if you are on St Croix! The monument is striking and the 360* views are just amazing! This was our third year visiting this site. Our son and daughter in law hiked to Friers Bay and beyond doing an almost four mile loop coming out near the huge communication satellite dish. They are both avid photographers and had a great time taking tons of photos. If you try it use sunscreen, bring plenty of water, wear good shoes and a hat. If not into hiking, the ride and views are worth it. It’s a great way to spend some time enjoying the spectacular coastal scenery.

Worth the drive but actual site at Udall point is less than inspiring. Not much there. Park take few pictures then leave. We didn’t do the 3.5 mile hike to beach down below but instead drove 1.5 miles back to Cramer beach and that was outstanding.

How difficult would this hike be with a 18month old? She's very adventurous and would definitely want to walk some, while we would use a carrier when she gets tired.

It seemed pretty steep, the trail was narrow and had a lot of brush. I talked to a couple who did the hike and they said it was worth the trek. You can drive out there and try the trail. If it's more than you want there are beaches near by which are easily accessible.

Can you tell us about the yacht club...and the area? Is there alot of crime on the east end of St. Croix? We plan on renting a place out that way for the views to Buck Island and proximity to the boats.... any other things about St. Croix for a first time visitor? We have gone to St. Thomas and St; John...but never St. Croix... any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks

I'll defer to the locals for accurate crime stats, but as a recent visitor, I'll do my best on the east end. The east side is beautiful and has some incredible views. It is much more quiet, and many areas would best be described as untouched. We rented a jeep and the drives through the east end were very relaxing. The main "action" for St. Croix will be more towards the cities of C-Sted and F-Sted. We stayed at the Buccaneer and the views of the water were pretty spectacular. Once you get past the Buccaneer heading eastward, it becomes more and more sparse. On the southern side of the eastern end of the island you can also find beautiful cliffs leading down to the water.
If you are looking for a quiet getaway, the east end is a good fit. Just be aware that you will need to drive into C-sted for most of the food and entertainment options (except for a few favorites like Duggan's, Ziggy's, and the casino).
