Formerly a slave-trading market, this open-air fruit and vegetable market is a great place to stop and sample the fresh produce, especially the local specialty - genips.

Great cheap souvenir shopping

Be prepared for pushy sellers and be willing to negotiate. Most booths have the same stuff so you can shop around for the best price. T-shirts 3 for $10. Can't beat it.

This area seems like locals frequent daily to get their local fruits and drinks made by locals. A large area in town right in the city area

There was a small open market, guess it would be bigger on cruise ship days. Local crafts and tourist stuff

The vendors are pretty aggressive. There is little chance for a leisurely stroll through the market area without being bombarded at every turn to buy something. You can get something for at least 1/2 of the asking price if you find something you want. I wouldn't expect to find a hidden treasure buried somewhere amongst the booths. It is all... More

Did a walk through and we were on our way. Local vendors setup under easy-ups and tarps. If you like battering this would be the place to do it. Less formal vendors. Same touristy type merchandise but maybe last years version. :)

Don't even go thinking that this spot has things by local artisans. It;s full of imported stuff. Every other booth has the same thing. Move on to a spot where you'll find the nicer stuff. Unless you're into cheap souvenirs.

Not all are friendly and there really isn't any deals if your looking to buy along he Markets. The town area had better deals & people don't bug you to buy if you don't want to. I love to look and if there something that catches my eyes I'll buy,but I don't like to be bugged for anything..

Most of the pictures for this site are incorrect. Market Square is away from the hustle and bustle of the jewelry shops of Main Street and is open daily from 6:30-8:30am. The market structure is unique and open air. There is a sign there with the history of the location.

Interesting history of the market square. A few folks were still selling wares on Saturday afternoon. The fruit looked delicious.

This is a must-go if you are in need of souvenirs and culture!!! Loved all the different tents set up... was able to get great souvenirs of great quality! I also loved meeting all the different people.
