A really neat area that served as warehouses 100 years ago...now shops and dining ...small courtyards...narrow walkways...on the waterfront highway

You travel from big cities and are used to traffic jams ? - you got it here!! I lived in St T for 4 years, have many friends still there, and wonder WHY folks put up with the traffic jams along Veterans Hwy when the Cruise Ships dock? Using US money, this (only) tourism burden could have been solved a... More

Waterfront Hwy, also known as Veteran’s Hwy, is a busy four lane highway running along the harbor and stretches from Havensight Mall, near the cruise ship dock on the extreme east of Charlotte Amalie, to Frenchtown on the extreme west. While Charlotte Amalie’s harbor is very beautiful and full of activity with boats of all types and seaplanes, I found... More

This is the main road from our timeshare to town. It is very scenic. You get to drive by the cruise ships, the shops, the flea market and the water. Remember to drive on the left!!!!

Off course the shopping here is top quality with top price as compared to Main and Back Streets and the atmosphere is quite uplifting with the Waterfront ever present.

The drive via the waterfront highway is really pretty but as a resident of the continental US i found it a bit crazy driving. They drive not only European style but with non-European vehicles. It felt like a double wrong when being on their vehicles. The drive shows the pretty piers and blue waters of the island. These people have... More

Some of the yahts in port are so big it is hard to imagine what kind of job you would have to have to own a multi million dollar yaht with... More

To go diving each morning, I walked from my B&B in Charlotte all the way to the Crown Bay Marina and back four days in a row. And always enjoyed the experience. Often, in the evenings I walked a mile or so in the opposite direction for some new dining experience. In either direction, I enjoyed the Waterfront Highway.

Are you adventurous? Then take the stroll from the cruise ship to this popular shopping district. It's a bit of a walk but the views are worth it. Be careful if you want to cross the highway...the drivers always seem to be in a hurry (sound like a typical US city?). Many cruisers just opt to stay on the ship... More
