This restored train is a great way to spend an afternoon, especially if you have children. It’s a great way to see the countryside from the comfort of the rail car.

For goodness sake, Brecon Mountain Railway operators, whoever you are! (You’re very reluctant to reveal yourselves on your website. Is it because you’re ashamed of the bad job you’re doing?) Yes, it’s a charming little train; and a pretty, if short and unspectacular, route. Maybe...More

What a way to travel, steam loco up a mountain through forest with great views over the reservoir. This was a very enjoyable trip with a nice little stop on the return to take in the view and see the little steam museum, delightful way...More

Travelling on the steam railway was a delightful experience, particularly for our grandchildren who rarely have the opportunity to travel on a steam train. It is quite pricey but hey its a one off experience. You do get good views of the reservoir but apart...More

The Brecon Mountain Railway is wonderful attraction which affords spectacular views of the Brecon Beacons, forests and a reservoir. The steam engine was great to see and hear and the journey was relaxing and not overlong (a 90 minutes round trip). The staff were welcoming...More

I visited the railway with my mum as part of a coach trip. We really enjoyed it, it's an hour and a half round trip with a 25 minute stop at the second station. The only downside was that the coach company reserved carriages for...More

Brecon and its surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful. You can get glimpses of that beauty by travelling in the Brecon Mountain train from Pant station , but just glimpses. You can see the mountains , valleys, river and a water reservoir from the train window ....More

You do not go that far on this little train, but what you see are breathtaking views of some un-spoilt countryside. There is free parking, and a (poorly stocked) gift shop. After ten minutes on the train, there is a 15 minute break whilst the...More

As many have said there is not much value on this short journey with restricted views and crowded carriages. It is a parady of the original railway. There is little information about the history and purpose of the line and when I asked one of...More
