The good news: this world-class stretch of white sand and turquoise water is St. John's most photographed beach, which features a marked underwater trail for beginning snorkelers. The bad news: because of its popularity, it can get very crowded with cruise ship passengers and members of sightseeing tours.

You have seen it in 1000 pictures, it is just as good in real life. The snorkeling is decent, great place to get started before your boat trip to the good spots (I recommend on Lion In Da Sun with Captain Rick).

We snorkeled here 3 different days and saw something different each time. While the snorkel trail was interesting, we found more sea life off the trail. To the right side of the trail closer to to Trunk Cay we found an octopus one morning. We...More

If you travel from St. Thomas to St. John, you can easily catch an open air taxi from the dock. This is a highly visited beach so by early afternoon, although there are a lot of people, you don't feel cramped while there. The snorkel...More

One of the most photographed spots for a reason. This is a beautiful beach. It is very easy to access and has lots of amenities (showers, snorkel & chair rentals, snack bars, etc.) This beach is a little more crowded because of it's easy access...More

Not much to not like about Trunk Bay. The beach is iconic, one of the best in the world. Unfortunately, the famous "underwater trail" is showing signs of too much "love" from the thousands of tourists year after year. We like to check the cruise...More

Trunk Bay is a beautiful beach and great for snorkeling. We saw several turtles and even a baby shark. You do pay to enter this beach but there is a snack bar, showers and a beach shop. Recommend stopping by this beach for a swim.

hello I will be on Charlotte Dock on April 4, we are 5 people and want to go to Trunk bay, how much is the ferry? round trip and is there any cost for entry to the beach? is the ferry going direct to trunk bay or we have to pay a cab over there? do you think trunk bay is better than coki point or Lindquist beach in St-thomas??? Thanks for answers!

hello. the ferry to St. John from St. Thomas is $14/person roundtrip. Once you arrive on St. John there are plenty of taxis. The taxi to Trunk Bay will be $7/person. Trunk Bay is part of Virgin Islands National Park, thus... More

Rick - Did you come in on a cruise ship? Do you mind sharing the name of the company you used for this excursion? We are coming into Charlotte Amalie on a cruise and we are interested in getting to Trunk Bay / St John to snorkel. I know we can navigate ourselves there via taxi and water ferry but would be interested in a guided excursion if it's not crazy expensive.

First, you need to narrow down which island you wish to visit. However, if snorkelling is a major priority, you've likely narrowed it down to Maui, Oahu or The Big Island. Maui is awesome, but your best bet is the Big... More
