Good spot for birding in St. John. We arrived early and saw some ducks and egrets in the pond. Look for the little crabs on the ground along the boardwalk. Be careful along the boardwalk because it can get slippery.

this visit was a great turtle day. We saw over 5 turtles, small and large, but just eating around. I have been to this beach many times, but this year, it was not too crowded, and it was really nice

Wow, what a great find this one was. This was a great beach for us, we spent the whole day there. Plenty of shade, great snorkeling on the far right-hand side near the rocks, and plenty of room to spread out. We saw 7 different sea turtles, a squid and a sting ray here. Put this on your "to visit"... More

One of the better trails we took on the island for seeing wild animals. Had a few deer follow us almost all the way to the beach.

Not a difficult "hiking trail" but more of a nature trail. Half a mile long and passes through the ruins of the Francis Bay Estate House, then leads to the beach. A friendly deer followed us to the beach. I found a hole in the ground with a giant blue crab defending it. Once on the beach, there was an... More

We hiked this short trail after visiting Francis bay. The bay is more protected than the rest of the North shore so it can be better snorkeling if the water is choppy elsewhere. The trail passes the remains of a nice historic building and also passes a salt pond where you can bird watch. It ends back at the road... More

This was one of favorite beaches and trails. Sp peaceful and beautiful snorkeling. There is always a gentle breeze there and it is not crowded.

We thoroughly enjoyed times at Francis Bay so eventually did the trail. Not bad, but nothing that special.

If you are into wildlife and birds, this is the best place on the island. The trail is flat and easy to walk around once or twice in a visit. Lots of birds on the pond visible from either platform or from the trail on the east side of the lake. The bugs can get bad and are the only... More

I did this trail twice during our stay in April 16. I am a birder, and the variety of birds is awesome. The trail was only about 1.2 miles long, and starts off as a dirt trail with a slight downhill elevation, but was fine with just teva sandals. Once you get to the end of the dirt trail at... More
