It wasn’t really all that interesting of a place to visit. While we were there, we saw a guy wearing a snake which was interesting. Also, it’s located right near the water and there is food available nearby, which is a big plus.

We stopped quick to see Montagu beach and stumbled on this lovely Fort Montagu, that had a nice view of the island. Nice little area to relax and take in the peace and quiet. Also had some reading of history and it is the oldest fort on the island. So that was gray for the kids to learn. Nice quick stop enjoy and thank me later.

We visited Fort Montagu and decided to pay the $2.00 admission fee to enter the fort. This and a tip enabled the man in charge to give us a fifteen minute history of the fort. The young people in our group loved it!

Was killing some time before sailing and took a long walk along the coast to this fort, from downtown Nassau. It was a really nice walk and fort Montagu was tiny, but nevertheless, interesting. I think this is the fort where I saw the ovens where they heat up the cannonballs so they will also cause a fire on the ships they are trying to sink.

Only a small portion of the fort remains, but the view and history surrounding it are worth visiting. Stop by the vendors close by for a Bahama Mama.

Very small fort off of the beaten path. It is about a 10-15 minute and 30 dollar cab ride round trip from the port including the cab waiting for us for 15 min to tour the fort.
I went to the fort because of it's history with the United States Marine Corps, "Google it". Its a great place to go if you are a Marine Veteran or a military history buff.

A plague at Fort Charlotte listed 4 forts. Having visited 2 prior, this seemed like the smallest of the three. Although I did not enter the fort, I found enough excitement watching the people exercising, walking along the beach and just enjoying the general area.

Take a jitney for $1 cash down Bay Street. It's a 5-minute ride. I used the jitney to get to my hotel a few blocks farther down the street. The trip back may be a little longer, because of how Bay Street is one-way in some parts. Ask a local for help with the jitneys, as there are no easily-accessible bus route maps like you would find in a typical city.
