While staying on paradise island in Nassau we decided to venture into the city for some local shopping and food tasking. We took a taxi from the Riu to downtown for the cost of $20 ( for 4 people). Once we arrived my friend was summoned to a vendor in an alley upstairs. Out of curiosity I followed. The lady... More

Crime is a problem in Nassau. Just about everyone said this while we were there so we stayed to the touristy areas. My wife and I went out for a run around 8am and on the way back a drunk younger man grabbed my wife. He looked drunk or high. There are literally police every 50 feet and we had... More

Well you won't be bored on this street. Plenty of shops for you to visit in. You also have banks that provide international money, and if you are good you can find the good deals. You will find some good knock off products as well. This also the street where the Boxing Day Junkanoo parade comes down.

We were able to get almost everywhere using buses for a really cheap price. Only Atlantis and the airport weren't available. Cut down on our costs tremendously.

We took a trip into downtown from a hotel out on Cable beach. there were 4 ships in port and way too many people wandering the streets. Seemed to be the usual assortment of tourist type stores, nothing special and way to crowded.

The main street in Nassau - nothing special in itself but if you are in Nassau it's probably worth a look - despite a strange preponderance of drink shops selling speciality rums.

Yes, this is the main drag next to the cruise ship terminal and some places sell the most awful tourist-tat. But there are also shops selling high-quality products and there are loads of bars and restaurants to choose from.

Bay St is the shopping mecca of Nassau. Actually, several blocks are far less upscale than the other blocks, so a shopper can get a wide variety of experiences. You can walk or grab a bus, if tired. Of course, it is full of cruise ship tourists, so prices can be higher than expected, especially in the eateries.

Bay Street is the main road in the centre of Nassau; unfortunately it is just shop after shop of tourist junk, jewellery shops and duty free. Not many local shopping there!

If you cannot find it here, especially jewelry, then you probably don't need it. Tons of souvenir shops, most with stuff make in China or India.
