We visited Junkanoo World in February 2020 and enjoyed the visit. I recommend you go there as it has a fascinating history. The owner, Quentin, is VERY passionate about his Museum. This is not an attraction that gets a lot of attention, but seems to do a lot for preserving the history of the Bahamian culture. He speaks a lot about his travels and his humanitarian efforts, a bit to much for me, but I applaud his efforts.. This does not take away from the work he does with the youth and the community. While we were there, 5 of his “kids” were along for the tour, helped us put on mardi gras/Mummers style costumes and lead us in a musical parade. He is teaching the youth about the culture and history while they learn about hand making the costumes, hand bells and drums. He truly gives back to the community and even arranged to give food and supplies to our driver who's family lost everything when hurricane Dorian destroyed his island of Abaco.

This place is absolute awesome and was one of the best places I visited on my trip. It’s so colourful and full of energy, and I loved hearing all the stories from Mr Barrabas from his parade days. He is so passionate about everything he has achieved over the year, and quite rightly so! He is so welcoming and made everyone smile from ear to ear. We got to try on some of the costumes for photo’s, and also got to take part in a mini parade with drums and cow bells. I left feeling so alive and happy! The costumes really are an incredible work of art and fascinating learning about the culture and history. Suitable for families.

One of THE best experiences we had on our week long trip to Nassau. We literally could have spent all day there with Barabbas and his team were fantastic. Not only do you get the tour the facility and see all of the amazing Junkanoo costumes (which are beyond words), they also teach you how to play the drums and cowbell. You participate in a mini rush out, as well. Barabbas also made us conch fritters which were delicious (my teen eats nothing but cheeseburgers and finished 5 himself) and opened coconuts for us so we could drink the water. We even were able to try out hand at making our own junkanoo hats. We had such a great time and literally could have spent an entire day there, we almost did too as Barabbas invited us back for that evening's junkanoo practice. During which he made us feel like the guests of honor. Truly an incredible place and team and a definite stop on your trip to Nassau.

What a wonderful experience!
We appreciate your awesome review and excellent rating of your visit(s) to Junkanoo World. Barabbas indeed, has never met a stranger. Please come again, perhaps to perform with us in an actual parade on Boxing Day or New Year's Day!

We went to Junkanoo World as part of our tour of Nassau. It was amazing to learn about the history of Junkanoo and the Bahamian people. They showed us some costumes and had an op pert unity to try on whatever we could lift. I had to try in a hat! We were told the history of the location and how the property was handed down from generation to generation and how the Junkanoo costumes are made. We also learned about the instruments. We learned how to play the drum and how to shake the cow bells. I highly recommend coming here!

My visit to the Junkanoo Museum was really enjoyable. It was an opportunity to learn more about Bahamian culture. We got to see a lot of cool costumes and we also got to participate in a drumming activity. The gift shop was nice and had some pretty cool souvenirs. I wish we could have stayed at the Junkanoo Museum for a bit longer.

I wanted to know more about the culture of the Bahamas and this museum was the absolute best! It was fascinating learning about the Junkanoo celebration and an even bigger treat to see the gorgeous costumes. They even let me try some on and take part in the music. They were so gracious and fun. Don't miss it!

It is worth the short trip from downtown to visit Junkanoo World. This is the real deal - run by a family who participate in Junkanoo. In fact, generations of their family have an organization that "rush" in Junkanoo. We learned the history, saw some of the spectacular costumes, and had a drum and cowbell lesson. It's a museum, but it's also the place where the group meets to design and make costumes. So much more of an authentic experience. My sister and I very much enjoyed our visit and meeting the family.

We really enjoyed the Junkanoo Wolrd Museum. We loved hearing about the Junkanoo festival and heritage. Seeing all of the elaborate costumes they wear in the parades was amazing. Quintin and our tour guide gave us a look at how they are made, WHAT SKILL. The pride is apparent in this museum, it is not to be missed.

We had a great time learning about Bahamian culture & Junkaroo. Barabbas was a great host and gave us all a truly immersive experience. This was my favorite stop I would’ve loved to stay & help with costume preparation. I’m inspired to come back to participate in Junkaroo.
