It was fun to walk around trying to ignore the aggressive vendors. If you want something that says Freeport, or Bahamas, on it this is the place to go. There are a couple of nice restaurants and we ate at Agave as the only tourists...More

lots of fun, tried conch salad and conch fritters, jerk chicken and great beer. Great banking options for Canadian travellers. Good cigar prices and terrific specials on booze.

The marketplace is a fun, vibrant part of Lucaya. There are many local vendors as well as a few bigger names. There are restaurants and bars and music some days. A definite do if you are in Freeport.

If you go to Freeport, with an idea of visiting this market, ensure you go on a day when the Cruise Ships are in, otherwise, you will find most of the stores closed. Those that so remain open offer regular tourist junk you can by...More

The only way I will go back is if i walk on the opposite side of the road away from pushy crafters to the shops. It is not enjoyable one bit, they all pretty much drag you into their area (its like a flea market)...More

Purpose-built tourist trap, high prices, no character. Port Lucaya Marketplace allows cruise passengers to buy expensive branded items they could get at home, or trinkets/memorabilia. Not an attraction. Here we found a range of restaurants (ok quality, high prices), shops selling standard global brands (also...More

This is the most notable collection of shops and restaurants on the island. It looks dated and surprisingly empty, but it contains some very good restaurants. At the west end, there are a bunch of shops selling mainly tourist trinkets but also some good local...More

The marketplace is pricey and nobody is willing to haggle. I bought a dress and upon returning to the resort found it had a hole in it. I returned to the marketplace and although the day before they said the type of dress I bought...More

We walked over from the hotel in the morning and enjoyed visiting the many shops. The shop keepers were friendly and there were lots of local crafts and souvenirs to choose from.

I don't think most of the shops open much before 10 am...but there are lots of taxi's and taxi vans, etc at the port. Is only about a 15-20 minute trip to Port Lucaya, and I think about $10 round trip.
