Peaceful

A lovely well kept garden area with seats to commemorate the fallen in WWII. Peaceful. The memorial for WWI is near the entrance to the village.

Just across the road from the delightful church and a couple of hundred yards from a coffee stop. If you need a jorney break on the way to Blaenau or Porthmadog, then this is an ideal spot to sit awhile and quietly consider what the guys nmaed on the memorial did for us.

I don’t normally review war memorials but I make an exception here simply because of its lovely, peaceful location. Situated opposite the wonderful old church and with nice views of the surrounding countryside, this is a perfect spot to sit for a while and take in the sleepy ambience of the village while giving due thoughts to the local young men who gave their lives in the wars.

And don’t forget to visit the church.

Garden of Remembrance
Jan. 2019 • Couples
On a recent Wednesday morning, Hubby and me were walking around Dolwyddelan when we noticed this stone Cenotaph which is located opposite St. Gwyddelan's Church (separate listing). We entered the garden of remembrance which was very peaceful. The information board stated it was unveiled in 1922 and commemorates 19 local men who died (the majority of them were only in their 20's) during World War 1 (1914-1918) and World War 2 (1939-1945). There were tall conifer trees in the garden, a few wooden benches and a litter bin. We looked at the poppy wreaths and stood for a moment to pay our respects.
