A unique 16th century castle in the Scottish Borders which has undergone a 2 year restoration project. In 2017 the castle is open from 2 May - 1 October every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm (last admission) and offers castle tours and use of the grounds and children's play area. Thirlestane can also be used for weddings and events, along with holiday lets through use of the castle's luxury Lauderdale Apartment. Enthustiastic and very knowledgeable guides made our visit to this lovely property most interesting and enjoyable. We had a delicious light lunch, prepared and served by friendly and efficient staff.

We had a trip to the castle today lovely place to walk round the grounds are dog friendly but your 4 legged fury friends aren't allowed in the castle :/ 🐕More

Nice Cafe. Reasonable prices . Lots of activities going on. Worth a visit. Insist on "disabled" parking and you will be directed to front of castle/Cafe area.

Magnificent castle in magnificent surroundings! Some renovation work ongoing but it did not spoil our enjoyment. Very friendly and knowledgeable guides! Learnt so much. The Castle Kitchen is warm and very friendly, with freshly prepared snacks and lunches. The whole day out was great value!More

A really lovely national treasure well worth a visit. You can pay for entrance to the castle and grounds or just for the grounds. Parking on site. Accessible parking outside the castle. Lovely walks in the woods for the dogs and they are welcome in...More

Yes there is plenty of parking for your motorhome while you visit the castle. There is also our Caravan Park if you would like to stay longer.
