We visited this cafe mid-afternoon on a Sunday and were told they'd no tables. We thought we'd browse around the shop since we were there and purchased a couple of items. The lovely helpful lady at the till asked conversationally what we were doing for the rest of the day. I said we were going to look for someplace for... More

Whitmuir is a destination visit. There is much to do and enjoy in lovely surroundings - and not at all far from Edinburgh. For gardeners, there is a really wonderful little garden centre called Quercus. The owners are genuinely enthusiastic and very well informed. These plants were born and bred in Scotland, nurtured to survive in our hostile Scottish climate.... More

Visited whitmuir restaurant for lunch on Tuesday, on a prebooked table, there were only four tables occupied, so therefore not busy. Placed our order, 35 minutes later it arrived, with all that time, the hamburger, was not cooked. The table had a coffee stirrer left on table, attention to detail of cleaning required. The total bill came to £38 for... More

We dropped in at the end of January for some lunch and to have a look at the artwork in the Dancing Light Gallery which is under the same roof. There is plenty of onsite parking. From past experience at this time of year, despite the log burner in the café it’s worth having a fleece or other such warm... More

We stopped by chance, driving back South from Edinburgh. I wish I lived closer, I would definitely become a regular. We had a late lunch, and both hot courses were delicious, so was the shared Ploughmans platter we had for starters. There is a good selection or artisan drinks too. The sitting area is very pleasant and there are also... More

Firstly - it's WhiTmuir, not Whimuir. (Just in case anyone can correct this listing) Very happy with help & assistance in finding something tasty & wheat/dairy-free to go with a very welcome coffee. The staff were brilliant & really know their onions. We usually travel the A702 up & down from Scotland to England, but as we had made an... More

There are lots of different things to enjoy here, Restaurant, organic shop, Superb Dancing Light gallery, plants and woodworker and the farm and walks. This is a good day out for all of the family. Especially love to see the pigs in the field and the piglets, quite magical.

Food was tasty but service was a little slow although the staff were pleasant. We went a little late for lunch on a Saturday so some things on the daily specials were finished.

My husband and I drove out for a visit today and were most impressed. A clean and welcoming building had a fresh produce shop and, inside, more organic produce, mostly home produced, as in the meat selection. The restaurant was bright and welcoming, and the menu offered choices which catered for all tastes and dietary needs. The cakes were impossible... More
