We bought a boat here in January of 1994 when we chartered a sailboat in St Lucia. Now we're here on our own sailboat and came to say hello. This is an amazing family business and the craftsmanship and artistry of the boat models is the best that Bequia has to offer. We shared pictures of our model which has pride of place in our home. Don't miss this workshop where you can see the boats being built and meet the amazing family that builds them.

What a pleasant surprise to see such beautiful model replicas of whaling sail boats and other sail boats. The craftsmanship is astounding. Our Clipper ship anchored off Bequia and we tendered ashore. The we headed to Sargeant’s Model Boat Shop.
The incredible model replicas were amazing. I knew that we would not leave the shop without purchasing one. Our purchase was delivered to our home in Florida ten days later.
The models are really impressive and we will go back to Sargeant’s to purchase another in January 2021

I love being able to talk to the artist in their studio while they are carving the boats. This is more than just buying in a store. Last time we visited here (5 years ago) we selected a boat that was partially finished. They mailed the completed boat to us.

This is a cool place to go to - I didn’t like the pressure to buy, but it is there livelihood. If you’ve never been it’s worth the look

We spent two weeks on a catamaran cruising the Windwards. I was so jazzed to get to Bequia and then the Sargeant Brothers Model Boat Shop! I had wanted to go there for years. I love the history of the Bequia whaling boats (well, except for the whaling part). Those brothers started a cottage industry to give young people a way to make a legitimate income. Judi and I spent at least an hour marveling at the craftsmanship of the model boats. And yes, I had one shipped home that I have hanging in a wall case I made for it in my den. I delight in it every day.

The workmanship is exceptional and the models on display are delightful. Some large complex models as well as the small basic ones.

The boats produced here are absolutely beautiful. My heart ached to leave without a boat (as I had no previous idea of the prices and had not catered for them), but was told that I can order and they will ship to anywhere. That I plan to do.

The craftsmen were quite welcoming and gave a brief history of the boats. I would definitely recommend this shop and would also recommend putting aside a few hundred USD in order to buy one. They are a sight to behold.

Went to this shop and saw some beautifully made model boats. The workers were very friendly and take pride in their work. We bought a small boat which was all we could get into our cases but they were rather expensive.

Sargeant’s Model Boat Shop
The owners and craftsmen here welcome visitors to see models being made and the finished products.
The models often take many months to complete. Some are made to specifications supplied by the customer. The workmanship on the more expensive ships is beyond belief. Often many different woods are used on the same one. One large sailing yacht on display in the showroom had a price tag of $7000.00 US. Most of course are priced for less but still this is not a place where one can expect to purchase a souvenir for $10.
This is the place for someone who would cherish a work of art and treasure the detailed workmanship and colorful beauty. A visitor who comes here will be amazed at the work being done, one who brings his checkbook may end up with a visual masterpiece they can enjoy for a lifetime.

I thought this was really interesting though my Girl wasn't quite as excited about it. The workmanship is impressive, but it's pretty expensive to buy anything. Makes sense when you find out that boat building (especially whaling boats) was a big industry back in the day.
