I say potential, as our day got cut short by a rather nasty accident that parents may want to know about. We'd had a fascinating time at the museum and were heading down to the coast line. Our ten year old boy was running down the path, as boys do, when suddenly he went over. He had been tripped by a shin-high wire stretched across the pass, obscured by weeds. His injury was really nasty and needed many stitches. I won't go in to all the gory details but it was quite traumatic. As I don't know who to inform of this hazard, I hope that someone from the region can look in to removing this wire incase it happens to anyone else.

Beautiful views of the English Channel and coast weather permitting. Car parking easily accessible, with plenty spaces and free. Pathway to the cap well posted and wheelchair/buggy friendly. Well worth visiting even if the weather is poor.

Well worth the short detour from the Calais Wimereux road to go to this iconic headland where both Napoleon and Hitler are said to have gazed across the channel to England dreaming of forthcoming conquest and indeed on a nice day it does look ridiculously close and easy. Fantastic views along the coast to Boulogne and down to the wave cut platform beneath, but keep children well away from the edge. Adequate space to park but a short though quite steep hike up to the monument. remains of the German pill boxes and observation platforms in the field around. Beautiful on a bright sunny day and when cold and drizzly a reminder of what it must have been like to be posted here to guard the coast!

We had a great waking tour around Cap Gris Nez and we enjoyed beautiful landscapes and scenery. We saw some seals and a lot of beautiful birds. The kids really enjoyed it

This site has a viewing platform to view the White cliffs of Dover from the nearest point in France, it has a lot of German fortifications along with a Henry 8th fort and amazing views of Cap Blanc Nez and ample free car parking and marked paths. Ideal spot for a picnic.

Gorgeous place to have long walks and enjoy the beauty of nature. When weather permits you'll have a very clear view of the English coastline with it's white cliffs. Near the lighthouse you'll find a viewing platform with lots of information about the history of this place and the exceptional fauna and flora. There is a big car park near the lighthouse, so this is a perfect place to start exploring.

We went late afternoon in beautiful clear sky's and no wind. Fortunately we could see across to England and watch the shipping in the channel. If you are in the area you must go!

This is a fantastic place to stop off along the Opal Coast. Plenty of free parking ( even in the summer). There are a number of different walks that show you different aspects of the area.

The viewing platforms have information points on what you can see. It includes all the wildlife as well as the key points on the English coast.

Definitely worth a visit and we shall be returning.

One of the main observation platforms was closed. Cap Gris Nez comes second after Cap Blanc Nez. The latter is more breathtaking, and offers better hikes, including one on the beach.
Large parking lots eases a visit to Cap Gris Nez.

It's been several years since I last visited here. There's less places to wander now due to possible falling rocks, but there's still several little walks to go on. All around are signs detailing the history of Cap Gris Nez in English as well as in French. The views are amazing. There's plenty of free parking. Along with Cap Blanc Nez further down the coast, it's definitely worth a visit.
