First of al Harbour island is absolutely worth visiting. Rent a golf car and discover the island. Spend some time at pink beach.

Like the name says, this is a pink sand beach that is easily accessible down a sandy path. If riding a horse on the beach is on your bucket list, there is a small stable with a few horses and guides willing to take you.
There are some palapas and beach chairs, but I believe those are for the nearby resort.

I know someone who was here 15 years ago and said the entire beach had pink sand. That certainly was not the case in 2023. The only time we saw "pinkish" sand was when the waves would come up and then retreat on that portion of the sand, plus the sun had to be at just the right angle.
As far as the beach itself, it was nice, although rough when we were here in February.
To us, it doesn't even come close to beaches in St. John Virgin Islands or some of the other beaches in the Bahamas.

I give capitan Diego and first mate Lisa a 10! They are the best, they made this experience amazing! The know the history of the island and love their heritage. I learn so much about the Bahamas and enjoyed every minute of our excursion from our lunch at Valentines to swimming with the pigs the turtles and the pink sand beach.

Like many beaches on the eastern side it is a pink sand beach.
This is in Harbour island so it is famous but not so nice.
Too many buildings and people.

What a beautiful beach, with its Pink Sands and breathtaking teal water..It runs for miles and un can even explore on Horseback with Marty nearby. Or just go uptop and dine at the Pink Sands Resort and have a delicious meal overlooking the Pink Sand. Or just have a cocktail at the oceanfront bar.. With its friendly staff GM Kym Nielsen has made this into a Jewel on Harbour Island

Look as you might, the sand is not pink. There is some red in it but you have to be up close to even see it. It is the same sand as all the Islands have. BUT the beach is amazing, the water is to die for.....

Gorgeous beach with beautiful sand and the most amazing clear blue water! You have to visit TJ's beach stand for cocktails, food, and chair rentals. She is the best!! Can't wait to go back!

Pink Sands has powdery pinkish white sand. The beach is close to downtown and had barely anyone on it when I was there. I was disappointed that it wasn't as pink as I had hoped, but it was beautiful.

Any idea if there are safety lockers or luggage storage available anywhere on Harbor Island? I plan to make a day-trip (by ferry) from Nassau to Harbor Island to see the Pink Sands Beach. I would need to keep my phone, wallet, etc. safe to be able to enjoy the beach. Appreciate your reply!

Hello no there are no lockers but there are places you can rent umbrellas and chairs and you can leave everything there. It’s pretty safe.

You’ll have to take a ferry to Harbour Island. It’s about 2/2.5 hours from Nassau.

Was the sand truly pink? I really want to see pink sand for real.

Depends on what you are thinking by pink. Nowhere in the world is it that bright pink, it kind of changes pink hues depending on the light and angle you are looking at it. It gets its pink hue from the coral shells of tiny sea creatures (non-scientific explanation) and mixed with white sand makes a pinkish color. The sand is beautifully soft- like walking in flour and doesn’t get hot. Look at some of the pictures related to the post and judge for yourself. I will say it has the best sand I’ve ever put my toes in.
