Maybe he did and maybe not.

This is one of at least three islands that are absolutely certain that Columbus made his first landing there. And each one can show you where. LOL

It is a short bike from Santa Maria Resort! It is a bumpy road and a steep short hike to top for an amazing view!

Even though I was staying near Clarence Town, I wasn't about to miss this well known site. I wasn't completely certain I was on the right road to the monument in spite of the sign, which lacked an arrow. Yes, it's that left turn shortly after you pass Cape Santa Maria resort headed north. The unpaved road is narrow and... More

Depending on where you are staying (we always stay south of Deadmans Cay) it's a heck of a looong drive, but once you get there and climb to the top...it's breathtakingly beautiful! Something to note, your vehicle should have decent "clearance" to make it through some spots of the road in from the queens Hwy, and most importantly the last... More

This monument sits on a point north of Cape Santa Maria resort. If you want some fun exercise and great views, bike from Cape Santa Maria resort ( they provide comfortable bikes) and bike down the road onto the trail to the Columbus monument. At the end of the trail is a narrow footpath up the hill to the point... More

A rugged road will lead you by foot, bicycle or sturdy car to the point of first landing by Columbus. Inspiring to imagine our history from the first footsteps on this mound. Extend your visit by walking over a small pathway to acres of untouched white sand beach and still waters for fly fishing, lounging, snorkelling, swimming. A magical place... More

Rough road to get there but worthwhile. Interesting that the marker commemorates both Columbus and the islanders he was ultimately responsible for eliminating. Beautiful spot, nice beaches.

Very nice panoramic views from the top near the monument. The monument itself could use a few repairs. Not a place I would seek out unless you have nothing better to do.

Not the easiest place to drive to, it's all dirt road and very bumpy so be careful with a rental car. However once you arrive you'll find a tale of two waters. Climb the staircase and you'll overlook the Atlantic side as well as the protected inland flats. The large monument that marks Columbus third landing in the new world... More

The sign marking the road to the monument could be more instructional. The road is treacherous and hard on rental vehicles. It should be fixed more often with added gravel and filling in the gullies. The destination is amazing however!
