Okay, that's a hackneyed phrase, but in this case it's true. This boutique independent cinema is the beating heart of Yarraville village, a stone's throw from the train station. When the original cinema opened here in the 1930s, movie legends including Clark Gable sent telegrams that hang in the wall. Tarantino came to visit it in 2016, bringing Samuel L... More

What can I say about this place other than fab. Yarraville revolves around the Sun, and even though the building and decor is Art Deco, the picture and sound is state of the art. They also have a zero tolerance for noisy, troublesome patrons. The Sun shows a combination of modern day releases, golden oldies, and art house. I used... More

Fantastic art deco theatre. Very comfortable and you can watch while having a local beer or some wine. Great mix of old and new films.

I visit here 1-2x a month. Not only mainstream films but others too. Cinemas are all different, but all styled in Art Devo fashion, some with sofas, others with vintage comfortable seats and side tables. Alcohol, a variety of made on site ice creams and snacks available.

Stepping into the foyer you are greeted by helpful staff and you immediately notice the period of the theatre. The viewing and sound quality of watching a movie is modern even though you are in... Love this place, great venue comfortable seating and very friendly staff. On my last visit I lost a silver ring which had sentimental value. I emailed the theatre and they rang back a couple of hours later with news that they had found it. Very happy.
