I took my family (three teenagers and husband) on a three day exploring experience on board El Duque. We had a unique time that they will never forget. Sleeping on the boat, watch the stars, explore the island, snorkel and swim all day was amazing. Amazing Crew, we felt at home and happy every minute aboard.

Traveling with El Duque Adventures has been a highlight among our family vacations over the years.

Four of us - husband, wife and two adult daughters - booked a four day, three night trip over the 2021 Christmas holiday.

From the very first contact to the returning travel arrangements it was a seamless experience utilizing this wonderful family run small business.

The boat is owned by Norman and Cat, both of whom are experienced mariners and dive instructors. Cat currently does not go out on trips because she and Norman have a very young daughter. However, Norman captains the boat accompanied by a full, highly competent crew.

On our trip, in addition to Norman we had Yasir, who is a captain in is own right and who assists Norman as well as pilots the tender boat (panga) that El Duque tows.

Also, Dany, a university trained marine biologist was with us all the time when snorkeling, hiking, birding, etc. She is a true delight and a wealth of knowledge about the geology, animals, plants and fish. Dany took great care to make my wife feel at ease when we were in the water swimming with the whale sharks, sea lions, and the beautiful reef fish.

Finally, but importantly, Andrés, the chef. I have a culinary degree and we have eaten many meals in many places over the years, but I cannot say enough about how impressed we were with the amazing meals Andrés created with simple ingredients (we are a family of fish eaters) and the delightful seasonings he used. The food alone is worth a trip out on El Duque.

Cat does the "office work" arranging for your trip, finding out what you want to do, and pulling it all together. She is also a great resource for assisting with any needs you might have in La Paz.

We returned from our trip on New Years Eve, with a flight back to the US on January 2nd. At the time a negative COVID test within 24 hours of flight departure was required to board the plane. Little did we know that on New Years Day ALL pharmacies and testing centers in La Paz are closed !

Cat found a testing service that came to our rental apartment on New Years Day to administer the test quickly and professionally. A great relief.

Cat also made the arrangements with a local transportation company for a van from La Paz to Cabo to catch our light. The service the company provided was excellent.

If you find yourself in La Paz, do yourself a favor and book with El Duque whether it is for a day, a night, or a month. I challenge anyone to find a company that provides a better value than El Duque.

And when you go, PLEASE tip the crew generously. They provide hospitality with a capital H, and competence with a capital C.

Fair winds and following seas to all.

A great multi day adventure with amazing food and activities! The 11 of us did a scuba adventure, snorkeled w/ sea lions, hiked islands, and swam w/ whale sharks. Everyone on the crew were excellent to us and we all felt like family by the last day!

Our group got to spend 4 days, 3 nights on El Duque and we wish it could have been longer! We did a tour around Isla Espiritu Santo with tons of activities. We did scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, swimming with sea lions, sunset missions, relaxed on the beach, and even swam with whale sharks! I can't say enough about the hospitality and service from Norman, Dany, Andrés, and Yasir during our trip. They tell you that you're family for the week and to treat the boat as if it's your own, and they really mean it. Great people, incredible experiences, and I can't recommend them and their excursions enough. It's a MUST DO in La Paz.

My wife and I did a full day tour of Isla Espiritu Santo wit El Duque for sightseeing and snorkeling with the Sea Lions. Our guide Norman was great and full of information about the area, the marine life and tips to improve my free diving! The tour was well organised with timings and a great lunch too.
This is an amazing unique trip which I highly recommend to anyone!

We spent 4 days on El Duque in January 2019. We did not have the best weather (windy and overcast for a couple of days) and I had the flu! With all that somehow this ended up being one of our favorite family trips ever! Cat and Norm are amazing and it was fun just getting to share in their adventure for even a short time. Snorkeling with the sea lions, scuba diving for the first time and getting certified, scenic hiking, great food, and most of all the best people!

If you are one of the lucky ones who found this adventure ... do it! It's something you will not regret. We hope to get back soon!

Just got back from 3 nights/4 days with Norm and crew. El Duque is very well equipped, the food is excellent and the crew takes excellent care of you. Norm clearly takes his job seriously and wants his clients to have the best possible experience. We went birding (baby Frigate birds!), snorkeling, kayaking, swam with the sea lion pups and finished with the whale sharks. I highly recommend El Duque and crew. Thank you for everything, Norm!

These two really made our visit to the islands of Espiritu Santo a fantastic excursion. Norman welcomed us at the dock and they were ready do go with all the equipment for the day....masks, snorkels, fins and wet suits. Norman guided us through the different areas and was very knowledgeable about the islands. Swimming with the sea lions was a great experience and Norman made sure we were safe and enjoyed the time in the water. We stopped at an amazing white sand beach and enjoyed a picnic of very good food prepared by Kathy. It was an entire day of activities made perfect by Norman and Kathy. Norman is a kind, gentle, prudent and very knowledgeable owner and guide. His price was very reasonable and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

We went on a whale shark tour with El Duque Adventures and we were blown away by the experience. Their respect and knowledge of the sharks and their habitat made our trip incredibly enjoyable and memorable. They were very friendly and knowledgeable and fun to spend the afternoon with. They made us feel safe and comfortable in the water and with the whale sharks. We can't wait to go back and would love to go diving with them as well. We highly recommend a trip with them!

We hired Norman and Cat to help us dive in La Paz with our two recently certified teenaged boys, 11 and 14 YO. Norman was awesome with the kids, and organized dive sites appropriate to their diving profiles (12 metres!) and experience. He reviewed how to check/put together gear, but generally set up the gear on this trip as the boat was very small and it would be difficult if each person was tripping over each other to do so. We did not request, but were taken as a private group of 4, which was greatly appreciated. We had a lovely time exploring islands, sea lions, whale sharks and a shallower wreck dive. Norm spotted many scorpion fish, rays, and animals I would have missed. My son was thrilled that he taught him how to create "proper" bubble rings! Cat catered to our no gluten, no fish (but fish for 3/4) requests without any issues and the food was very tasty and abundant. I would definitely dive with El Duque again without hesitation, and look forward to returning in a year or so to explore a possible live aboard option for a few days/week. I am a very safety oriented "Mom" diver and would recommend El Duque Adventures whole heartedly to those considering diving this area with new/young divers. Lots to see, and lots of fun. Thanks Norm and Cat!

It was a great few days of activity with your family. Your safety and enjoyment are very important to us and we love to show divers old and new to this beautiful area. It would be a pleasure to design a liveaboard charter for you in the future.
