We've been to playa Tesoro several years ago with kids and other families and enjoyed some lunch/drinks and a swim. A pretty little bay and beach bar. This trip we tried to go to Balandra but really long traffic delays due to construction had us turn around (and sit in more traffic total of almost an hour) to try to get to Tesoro. Finally made it, 20 some odd palapas empty, just a few people there. 200 pesos charge (?) to sit at one so we opted for inside.
They sell tecate (not my fav) so we opted for margaritas. Not so good, watery, old dirty glass with paint, likely not washed. Ordered tacos, deep fried fish and shrimp which would have could have ok if they were covered with the standard salsas and sides but they came with only packs of ketchup, mayo and some salsa like substance (weird). I asked if they had tapatio or any other bottle sauces, they did not apparently. The 1000's of flies inside the tent enjoyed the tacos instead. After covid and traffic closures, one would think they would maybe want some biz but didnt appear so. Just wanted a cold beverage, a palapa and some edible tacos....nothing more. Could be the "gringo factor" or speaking spanish and being polite was annoying to them. Needles to say I dont think I could stomach going back. Too bad because its a pretty little beach bar.

We happened to end up at this beach after being told we could not enter Balandra because it was full to capacity. It worked out great! Tesoro beach is long and stunning! It is hidden & underpopulated. There is a man called the Marlboro Man who can provide a tour to Balandra. We did not do it because it was late. However, it was a peaceful & beautiful place that seemed untouched. Not heavily populated & there are restaurants and bars all along the strip. No hagglers though. They ask you once & keep moving. The water was warm for Dec & it was a beautiful drive from Cabo. The scenery was unexplainable. Free parking & peaceful.

In our last day in La Paz we decided to go to this beach and it was a real treasure. We loved how clean, peaceful and empty it was. The gates opened at 10am and the restaurant opened around noon. As we stayed from 10 to 12 we used the chairs, tables and umbrellas for free. We took a taxi from downtown, the taxi wait for us there and charged $300 pesos for the round trip. It was a great option for our last day in town, but I would totally recommend it for staying the whole day.

We had a round of margaritas at the walk up counter; tipped well. It was a cold windy day, the beach and playa was empty. We sat on an empty table in the sun to warm up. We were asked to pay to sit at a table in their restaurant, after paying for drinks. Do no recommend, it feels like a scam.

Bad service. And even if you buy anything from the restaurant. You can sit at the tables? Wtf. Never heard this before. They will charge you extra for sitting at the rotten tables. At every other beach in LA PAZ. Table is included in the price.

We missed the entrance window to visit Playa Balandra and stopped here for a snack and drinks instead. The beach is beautiful and serene. The service was good and we enjoyed the ceviche de camarón. There are many vendors that stop but they respectfully walk away if you’re not interested in their products. Our visit here made for a nice afternoon outing.

This beach is very local, the waters are super calm, which is ideal for children, it is small but it has a restaurant and private bathrooms, the truth is we prefer to avoid them, the food did not look very interesting and they take ages to serve, so In fact, we sat down to eat and it took so long that we better went to eat on the boardwalk in La Paz. What I do recommend is renting a kayak to explore the calm waters, if it's worth it.
