small but interesting museum

This is not a large museum but it is well put together, good historical displays. Worth the $3 entry fee.

This place shows how the region started and how it became what it is today, has a lot of antics and the people there are very helpful in explaining what they were used for...

Many items are on display. It's not a fancy place, but I managed to kill a few hours studying items. Signs are in English and Spanish. It is a village display and not a formal big city like museum. People are around to answer questions. There are lots of artwork displayed but also really dark.

I spent a quiet, hour exploring this beautiful Mission, the outside calls to you, the inside is peaceful. Showcased are example of art from the period... pictures, statues, and carvings for example.

Well organized into different rooms, there are many artifacts on display which give you the story of the past 300 years. For example there is a huge caldron and utensils that was used to make a large stew-type concoction that was used to get the local natives to come to the mission where they would hear a religious message. Everything... More

Good display of artifacts and paintings showing the people, their stories, their implements etc. I thought I would spend 10 minutes in there but it was almost an hour before I came out. The Mision, built by the Jesuits, dates from 1697, when Loreto was the capital of the California. Incredible story.

I have reviewed this museum before and really like it - we were planning to take a group only to find it only opens in the mornings from 9 to 1 and may be closed certain days of the week. I tried three times with no luck. If you have the opportunity to come when they are open, it is... More

A small but informative museum located in the heart of Loreto, BCS. Lighting is a bit of an issue if I was gonna be picky, but I tend to believe funding is probably a bigger issue for them.

This is sadly a very poor recounting of the founding of the Mission, quite typical of history recounted from a colonial perspective, but absolutely antiquated now! The indigenous population is portrayed as almost savage and worthy of Christian salvation. Desperately needs reviewing.
