I like the beach and from the hill over looking the sand it is a great view. Yes the area is a bit shabby, ... or rather eclectic? There are some good restaurants and some interesting places where you would not want to eat.

Lots of good people watching on this waterfront walkway. Big Restaurant row overlooking the ocean. The US wall/fence is landscaped and painted with murals. A big bull fighting ring is used for lots of big public events, concerts and bull fights.

It is a nice beach area, good to go visit on a nice day, have a taco and look at the sea:). Could be a little cleaner though (the area around the beach).

Playas de Tijuana is a popular place for locals on the weekends and some evenings. Listen to mariachi music and indulge in the fresh, wonderful tropical fruit and roast corn from stands on the boardwalk. Walk along the beach, stroll the boardwalk or sit in...More

Worth seeing the Pacific Ocean when the sun is out. You can stop and eat, take a walk, take photos, just enjoy the water, etc. I got to see whales off shore!!

It was kind of stinky but very interesting to see the partly finished buildings. The tide ruined some of them and the others never finish or they will have to start paying taxes. So interesting to see the border wall that extends into the ocean...More

Making a trip to Tijuana tomorrow morning from San Deigo for a dentist appt. Want to take a look at Playa. Where is a good place to start? Only have a few hours and need to use UBER to get around. If all goes well I will be looking to rent an apt in January. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

For all intents and purposes, Playas is one single beach. Currents are treacherous so swimming is only for the experienced and strong. The water rarely gets warm enough to enjoy.
