As part of a city tour we stopped in the town square (Zocalo) of the older part of Acapulco. The Cathedral (La Catedral) was built the in the early 1900's and has a little different architecture for a church in Mexico. Well worth the time to stop and stroll around.

Although, I do not speak or understand the beautiful Spanish language, myself and 2 friends decided we wanted to attend a church on Sunday. So we went to this one, our driver translated afterwards the gist of the message. I loved that this is a local community church it is obvious people come here to pray to the virgin mary,... More

We have visited hundreds of Catholic cathedrals in every continent, but none so...., so..., strange. It's not even a big church..., more like a mid size chapel. Disappointedly dirty outside and the surrounding area. Worth a quick stop though...

This is a charming site with a some beautiful views. That said, it's a bit of an uphill walk, and but a small, quick visit.

About a km from cruise dock. Nice small church with a park around it. Seemed safe enough although this city has many many police around with lots of guns

The cathedral itself is nice to see however the area that it is in is rather run down and not what expected. If you walk from costera the walk is quite long however take plenty of water and stroll as you will see how the pace changes from acapulco main bay into the old town.

The best part of visiting the Acapulco Cathedral is the walk through the Zocalo(town square). Stop and enjoy the street vendors. It is all safe.

Lovely seeing the church - still in use - there were baptisms going on the day we passed by. The market in front of the church is worth a look around - felt quite touristy but interesting with some great food and drinks available.

Parades of locals dressed up and some in ceremonial warrior outfits and headdresses. Very joyful and entertaining family event. Clean modern looking church in a plaza packed with vendors (some on the church entrance that we thought Jesus would be offended by).
