Went to this beach a couple of times. As others have mentioned, it is not the best for swimming. Although there were people swimming, and there are lifeguards on duty. This I think means that it is never very crowded, so is a lovely beach to relax, wade, read a book. Has a public parking lot, also a jetty you can walk out for a different view.

This is a beautiful bay but dominated by the oceanfront resorts.
Apparently not many swimmers because of the dangerous undertow.

Playa Chahue is a good beach to take the family out for a few hours or a day. It is wide, open, and with public restroom. Having said all that, it is not an ideal spot for children to swim. It can be quite windy so the waves are strong--best to keep the children on the sand and not close to the water. Love that there's an excellent restaurant (Bladu'Yu) right on the beach's parking lot!

Playa Chahue is THE place to come on New Year's morning to see the first sunrise (of the new year) along with a 1000 or more of our neighbors. Local folks have been congregating here on those mornings for a millennium or more.

It's a nice beach, but there is no shade. The day I was there the surf was very strong, not recommended for kids or not strong swimmers

We thought of Playa de Chahue as our beach while we were in La Crucecita. It was a five minute walk from our condo. Always very clean and not too crowded like some other beaches.

this is a nice intro to the area. there are many restaurants right on the water. musicians will come play for you they expect 50 pesos per song but you may not know that upfront. say no if you dont want to part with 50 pesos, it does test your fortitude especially if you dont say yes and they just approach and start playing. there are many kinds from trumpet, accordian, quitar, and many others. Also ladies will approach to sell jewelry and clothing and baskets. the scene is nice with the beach. in the day mostly there is a large crowd in the water. Celebrations are high attendance such as for Christmas Eve with giant lights in the sky and singing.

Santa Cruz and Chahue are the closest beaches to La Crucecita but Chahue is much less crowded. Watch out for rip tide/strong surf. No recommended for weak swimmers. La Isla Beach Club is a good option for shade and bar drinks/food (100 Peso entrance). Pool and spa services available from adjoining hotel. Recommended.
