Great way to spend a few hours off resort (staying at Secrets just 1.5 km away). Took a quick taxi for 100 pesos (80 on the way back). Each person had the mud treatment (look for the ladies with buckets) for 200 pesos pp. Then we enjoyed the beach (lovely soft sand) for a while and had lunch at one of the seaside restaurants. Food was good, beer was cold and view was beautiful.

This is a beautiful place. Quiet, clean and a nice beach to walk. We ate at a small restaurant off the beach and it was affordable with a great view. We watched people surf and it was very relaxing. There were mud baths available as well. A wonderful adventure with breathtaking views. Highly recommend!!! A gem of a place!

Some of the Huatulco beaches are small and quite sheltered. Playa la Bocana is a great alternative if you want space to walk, view bird life, or have some time on your own. The services are more limited than in town but there are two restaurants with seating.

A visit to Play La Bocana is part of every trip to Huatulco for us. Starting with a great lunch and beers at Los Gueros and then to-go beers for a walk to the river. The food is fresh and awesome but you better have a healthy appetite or share.

we took a taxi to La Bocana , had a mud bath so wonderful a must do. we had a couple beers which were very cold and an amazing guacamole. I recommend La Bocana you can bring your own picnic and loungers if you would like.

This beach was better than expected, and worth the taxi drive from the resort area (Park Royal Beach). Great place to body surf or frolic in the waves. Also a great place for long walks on the beach.
It is not too difficult to find the mud bath ladies, with their buckets of mud. If you don’t see them, just ask around. They are by the restaurants or on the beach. I think the cost was 100 pesos.
They just apply the mud on you while standing on the beach. So you are putting on a show for the others at the beach! They let the mud dry in the sun, and then they rub the mud off. After that you wash up in the ocean,

The La Bocana area is quite small and rugged. The beach itself is wild, untamed and not many tourists, which I like. I walked along the beach for a while, and saw some good size waves coming in, it’s a really cool beach.

Playa Bocana was our absolute favorite beach. So very quiet and there are two local restaurants right on the beach. Coronas, chips and guacamole and then a swim and nap. Delightful. Remember to bring an umbrella because there isn't any shade.

Beautiful, long , flat, wide beach. Huge surf. Totally empty! Due to covid I’m sure. So we couldn’t try the little cafes. But lots of walking and great waves. We will come back next year.

We headed here early morning and walked to the end and back. Turns out it’s quite a ways. The small pond feeding the flow into the ocean ended up being fairly shallow and the flow was a descent “water slide”.
Lots of big waves/animal life, and a great food spot near the road.

As I understand it the local come to the beach with the mud and they apply it
on you at the beach. Then you go for a swim in the ocean and wash off..
IT is only done by the local woman who are decedents of the orginal Zapotecs
I found this - - -
One of the most unique and reasonably priced experiences available at this beach is the Natural Mud Bath experience! For only about $5 US/person you can enjoy a mud massage! The process begins with the experience of being covered from head to toe in mud taken from the nearby river. Once covered, you wait in the sun while the mud dries. The local women running the mudbaths then massage the mud off your skin and you finish up with a cleansing dip in the Pacific to wash off any remnants. It is truly a fun and memorable vacation experience - for five bucks, definitely worth a half hour of your time!
I am sure you can find a room not too far away from the beach

Alguien tiene el teléfono o el website del surf shop de Playa la Bocana?
Written June 3, 2019
Try contacting the restaurants at La Bocana. There’s two right on the beach. One is right beside the Surf Shop.

How long a walk from Secrets? Thanks
Written February 19, 2017
It took us about 20 minutes and that was a nice stroll. But if you walk it has to be earlier because the sun is so toasty, even though you walk in some shaded areas.

How do you get back to the cruise pier from Playa La Bocana in Hualtulco?...How do you know your taxi will come back for you??
Written September 2, 2016
Plenty of cabs around there to take you back. Also there are those that will call someone they know to come get you.

Greetings,
Could you please tell me what the beaches are like near your hotel ? How many minutes to walk to them, and if they are sandy or rocky, and is it safe ( clam waters ) to swim ? Also, are the meals included in the hotel's price ? Do you have a room for a couple who prefers two beds... we don't care if the size is twin, double, or queen, but we like to sleep in our own bed ? The main point for us ~ is it QUIET at night ? Can my husband take a cooking class nearby or are the famous mud baths nearby ? THANKS so much,
April
Thanks,
