It is lovely to walk along the malecon (sidewalk along the beach). Colorful shrimp fishing boats sit on the sand. If you arrive early you can buy shrimp freshly caught. There are talapa restaurants right on the beach and interesting side. streets. And always, good open air restaurants ...

Great beach without vendors. A great place to meet locals as well. Many stores nearby to get beach snacks and drinks. Also had a pool area on the north end for more protected swimming.

Interesting area to walk around. Lots of nice cafes, shops & restaurants. Beach is beautiful. We always make at least one trip there during our visits to Mazatlan.

Spend the day strolling and people watching. Have a cold beer and a delicious meal at one of the local restaurants. Fun!

Love the area, so close to town if you're staying in old mazatlan. Easy to get to, restaurants directly across from waterfront and looney bean coffee shop with treats. Can be bit rough waters, but great for suntanning with view and amenities near you.

Olas Altas! Full history and wonderful view. I had been here many times. It is the best location to enjoy Mazatlan's incomparable sunsets. On the weekends this area is full of attractions and local vendors. Two blocks downs you will find The German old town and amazing restaurant to make that evening special. I will be back! MD

We were staying in a house overlooking Playa Olas Altas and I loved being able to stroll along the beach and watch the waves rolling in. It's a steeper sloped beach than some others in the area, and the lifeguard told us it was unsafe to swim there due to riptides most of the times that we tried. It was... More
