Playa Gaviotas is a pleasant two mile stretch of white sand in the heart of Mazatlan's Gringoland. It is a lovely, but fairly ordinary beach which gets a little smaller each year as the tide rises (Global Warming?) So what makes this a special place that has drawn me back time and time again for over forty years? The answer... More

Gorgeous beach! Beautiful sand and water but please be wary that there are stingrays in the water. I got stung on March 3 and as I was writhing in agony someone came up to me to let me know that he'd been stung the day before. The locals kept telling us that there aren't rays in the water but believe... More

Playa Las Gaviotas is the perfect beach - fine soft sand, easy to swim water, and picture perfect bay with beautiful islands on the horizon. Though we have not seen all Mexican beaches, it is by far the best one we have seen so far this year (our #2 would be Playa del Norte in Isla Mujeres): - Nicer sand... More

Many activities but you can choose to relax. Of course beach vendors but everyone's friendly. Water was warm and scenery is nice. Getting a chair and umbrella with food/drink service through a resort was the way we went. Great service.

Really a stunning sculpture, but whomever is in charge of keeping things tourist ready needs to quit painting it! It is SUPPOSED to develop a beautiful green patina and every time it is about to, they paint the darn thing and ruin it.

Poor buffet food. Hot food cold and/or overcooked. A lot to be desired. The rain was running through the ceilng while food was being served.

I have concluded the Golden Zone is actually so named because it's where white people and their money are most easily found in Maz. The Playa Las Gaviotas is a beautiful stretch of beach running through the Golden Zone and since we were staying at El Cid, it was our most visited beach during our week in Maz. The beach... More

Without a doubt this is the most popular beach in Mazatlan, with all sorts of waterborne activities available: parasailing, keyaking, Hobie cats, jet skis and more available for rent. Hotels along here have shady palapas and food & beverage service. The sand is so fine, your feet sink half an inch as you walk. On holidays, this is the place... More
