We set out on this 5 hour tour as part of a timeshare presentation. It was really a nice way to get to the quiet of a very pretty little island. Rode the banana boat and got dumped although we had said no dumping. A bit scary for me because it was quite hard to get back on. Nevertheless a... More

The boat ride takes you along the shoreline. You can see the different ares of Mazatlan. Upon arrival at the Island, you can partake in some activities such as "banana boat ride", snorkeling, swimming, and playing volleyball. You can relax on the beach and sun tan.

I rented a kayak and paddled to the island from El Cid. It took 15-20 minutes. Frankly, there's not much at the island, but I love kayaking so it was a nice trip. I've heard the snorkeling isn't any good, and I didn't see any fish near the island, so don't expect that. Some days this week were quite windy... More

The boat trip getting to Deer Island was relaxing and informative. Once we arrived on the island we waited on a dusty dirt road for a trailer pulled by a tractor to take us to the other side of the island. Lunch was good, but the extras that we purchased were a huge disappointment. We rode the skinny, tired horses... More

First I understand Mazatlan is not the ideal place for seashell hunting or snorkling, but if you do want to give it a try this is the best place we've found. We make a trip over there every year. If you don't want to do a day trip talk to one of the guys renting jet skis etc. on the... More

Took a private catamaran to Deer Island. Visibility wasn't great but enjoyed our time there regardless.

You can charter a boat trip from the Marina or a kayak tour from the Golden Zone over to Deer Island. There are public bathrooms there and a volleyball net. It seems that there are a few "tour" operators vying for rights - so it can be a little awkward. We paid $500 pesos for our family of 4 to... More

Booked the Deer Island tour from the Riu Emerald Bay. Left from El Cid marina on a catamaran for the island. The boat anchors a few hundred feet away from the island, your choice to swim to it or wait for a smaller boat (life jackets required and provided). On the island you can ride the banana boat, snorkel, kayak... More
