This lovely church was a comforting experience and sermon and music by a guitar quintet - I am not a catholic but the Holy Spirit was in strong presence to this reviewer. We managed to visit several churches and were lucky to have the joy of just sitting and listening to 3 masses with totally different style and this was... More

The church was constantly busy during last week of March. Every night there was local food and live entertainers in the square. Free, fun and authentic! Around 9:30 pm.it all ends with brief fireworks. We were staying closeby and it was a great way to end or start the evening.

There's much ado about the cathedral in town but this place is much prettier in my opinion. The shiny copper spires and the surrounding buildings are a thing of beauty. The park across the street is nice too.

I always attend mass at Our Lady of Refuge when in PV. The parishioners are always welcoming and the choir is outstanding. It gives me a warm included feeling.

While a beautiful church please note there are NO masses in English. You will need to go to the 11am mass at the cathedral ; and again this is bi-lingual usually Spanish and French with a little English thrown in.

This is the lesser low-key downtown church in PV. That said, it is a very nice humble, simple and beautiful church. Its beauty is its simplicity. Our Lady of Guadalupe has all the glamour, gold leaf and glitz but this is definitely a simple church for the locals. Worth the stop.

The Church of Our Lady of the Refuge is a lovely building. A peek inside is definitely recommended. It is just past the end of the Malecon.

Although a very nice church, I wouldn't make a special trip to see it. It's construction is fairly typical of churches from the late 1950's through early 1960's (it was built 1960). Perhaps more convenient to hear Mass at if you're staying in the Zona Hotelera than the Cathedral. They are about eight blocks apart.
