Managed to do the Historic Centre Art Walk in Puerto Vallarta and went into this charming gallery. The owner John took me around and showed me some astonishing pieces from everywhere around the world. Fell in love with a piece by Wosene Worke Kosrof who is a contemporary artist from Addis Ababa. If you happened to be in the area do drop in and enjoy a world or art in this wonderful gallery.

Adorable location

A very friendly, low key gallery tucked into a side street on the Malecon. Easy to get to on foot this gallery showed a variety of artists within its cozy walls, and the operator was knowledgeable and very friendly for us who appreciate art but cannot yet afford to bring it home. Do check it out!

Art that I Like!
Dec. 2014 • Couples
One of their featured artists is an Ethiopian painter named Wosene. Both my wife and I love his work. We have acquired one of his paintings and hope to be able to purchase again in the future. The owner and staff are very friendly and informative. If you go on the weekly Art Walk, be sure to visit The Loft!

A place to buy exquisite Mata Ortiz Mexican pottery.
May 2014 • Couples
Most Americans are familiar with Talavera, and maybe Oaxacan black pottery, but pottery from Mata Ortiz is equally as beautiful and can be a treasured reminder of your visit to Mexico. The Caleria de Ollas features many examples of Mata Ortiz pottery. While these are not inexpensive, they worth a look to see more traditional Mexican pottery. Every piece is signed, and the owner is very patient about telling you about each artist. Unlike painted pots, many of the pieces are carved (rather than have flat surfaces). There are many small pieces for under $100, and many large pieces for much more. If you have not heard of Mata Ortiz pottery, I suggest you look it up in Wikipedia. And when in Puerto Vallara, try to visit this shop if only just to enjoy seeing these pieces of art. Note, artwork is supposed to be duty free when brought back into the US (if you are over the limit). The owner will give you a certificate of authenticity for each piece purchased.

Terrific Gallery with Quality Art
Sep. 2013 • Solo
The Loft Gallery, as the name implies, occupies the upstairs two floors of a narrow building a block and a half off Puerto Vallarta's downtown promenade, the Malecon. I discovered it by accident during a recent visit. Unlike many tourist-oriented galleries with art that from time to time makes you cringe, The Loft carries art from all over the world that is carefully and knowledgeably curated by the owner, John Strawn. They also carry a fine line of women's and men's jewelry. If you're out on one of the weekly Art Walks during High Season or just poking about downtown as I was, you should check it out. I love the place.

Apr. 2012 • Couples
Great art in a great space with wonderful and very knowledgeable owners and staff. They have ecletic and unique art from artists the worldover that my wife and I always find very tempting. This has been a favorite gallery of ours for the years we have visited Puerto Vallarta---and it keeps getting better!
