Ecotours Mexico is a small, family owned and operated Eco- Travel and Adventure Tour company that started operating in 1991, which makes them pioneers among the eco- tour operators in the country, we are also founding members of the Mexican Association of Adventure Travel and Eco-tourism (AMTAVE).We have led tours for international associations such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the American Museum of Natural History in N.Y; the Saint Louis Zoo, and the National Wildlife Federation. At Ecotours de Mexico, we offer a different option for people who are interested in having a new and unique experience, who want to learn about the places they visit and are concerned about nature and conservationIn order to provide this, we have a great team of guides, mainly expert biologists and naturalists with a huge passion for nature. Our goal is to offer personal and professional attention on every one of our Eco- tours. Our tours are run based on the premise that you can't love that which you don't know, and we truly hope that after traveling with us you'll definitely share in our knowledge and our love for nature.Ecotours & ConservationBeing an authentic eco- tourism company, we have our own ongoing Humpback Whale research project since 1996. We are founder members of Ecologia y Conservacion de Ballenas (Ecology & Conservation of Whales) a NGO dedicated to research, conservation and protection of our oceans with main focus on Humbpack Whales. We have collaborate on the photo-identification project on the Humpback Whales and we are part of the Banderas Bay Humpback Whale Disentanglement Network. Ecotours is also involved in the Sea Turtle conservation program. We have been working as volunteers at different turtle camps in Michoacan and Oaxaca since 1990, and since 1998, we have been making donations and funding scholarships for the volunteers working at the main Turtle Camp in Banderas Bay. In 2010 we started actively supporting the conservation project of military macaws in the Sierra MadreWe believe education to be of outmost importance, and our staff frequently takes part in seminars at schools and universities in the area. We have also been invited to speak at several local, national and international tourism and eco- tourism conventions.

My husband and I spent ten days in Puerto Vallarta in December 2016 (around Christmas and New Years). The single best part of the trip was the Sierra Madre Highland bird tour that we booked with Ecotours! In great part this was thanks to our guide, Fernando Romo. He could spot birds quickly, sometimes based on barely audible signals. He... More

We went birdwatching with guide Fernando and trainee Cynthia. Headed south past the botanic garden, saw many new species. Fernando was excellent at identifying the species by sight and sound and very friendly. Ended the trip with a pleasant lunch in El Tuito. We asked for Fernando again for a 2nd tour heading north, another great trip with more species.... More

Fernando and the whole company took such great care of our group of 12. We were on a cruise, and varied in ages from 10 - 70. Couple of ladies with mobility issues, which they handled with compassion and efficiency. It's a long ride out to where the whales hang out, but the weather was great and the views were... More

My husband and I along with friends of ours took the Ecotour The Marietas Islands: Snorkeling & Sea Birds in late November. It was undoubtedly one of the best excursions we have ever taken. The trip out from Puerto Vallarta to the Marietas Islands was fun out on a speed boat with our trusted Captain Raoul at the helm and... More

The tour started on time and finished on time. The guide was very knowledgeable. Fernando the guide was patient and taught us some tips at the beginning of the tour to see the most number of birds. We visited 4 sites with aquatic birds on a lake, forest birds, field birds etc. Many varieties and some very exotic birds were... More

We were concerned as the trip was shorter than the number 1 provider and cheaper. No need to be because they only have 10 people per trip, they can use a high speed boat, so the time you spend getting to the area is shorter, you still have plenty of time with whales. This is a better trip all round.... More

This is the second time I have been with Ecotours whale watching and I can only say that Inwould never use a different company. The guide was not the same as last time but had the same enthusiasm and knowledge. What I like is that the guide and driver of the boat are as excited as the passengers on board.... More

Very impressive whale watching tour with enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. Coffee and biscuits accompanied an explanation of the tour before we boarded the boat. We spent 3-4 hours in the boat and saw 15 humpbacks plus turtles and dolphins. The highlight was seeing a humpback breech dive which surprised everyone - keep your cameras running and we did see a... We took our family to participate in releasing baby sea turtles with Ecotours. Our guide Christina was a lovely hostess and very knowledgeable about the local ecological environment. She was especially kind to another family with young children. There is a short nature walk and then you trek down the beach to see the hatchery. The baby sea turtles will... More

Visited the office at the marina in Puerto Vallarta to explain exactly what we wanted, and we got just that. Michael, our guide, picked us up at 06.45 and drove us, fed us, equipped us, and identified for us, 34 different bird species before returning us some six hours later, at all times being empathetic to the needs of our...
