We had a beginning lesson in the am before the beach became crowded with all the other schools and swimmers. It is a great location for beginners because the waves are slow and small. The area has a nice slow gradual depth and soft sand...More

About an hour or so drive north of Puerto Vallarta on the very north end of Banderas Bay. Very nice beaches and beautiful water. Great place for paddle boarding or boogey boards. Nice restaurants all along the beach along with souvenir shops. If you come...More

Punta de Mita seemed to me to be just a shopping strip of store setup for day bus trips unless you are staying at one of the destination resorts that are behind locked gates. Otherwise there wasn't much to do except have a margarita in...More

the part of Punta Mita we were at, downtown mostly, had a very un attractive, rocky shoreline, broken up by more rocky breaks, not very nice as a pure "beach lovers" beach. There are a number of beachfront restaurant/bars for a beverage and meal, but...More

you will find more to do in Sayulita, Bucerias or La Cruz. Punta Mita is pretty sleepy unless you are staying at one of the high end resorts, and then you are not really in Punta Mita.

We rented a car and went out here. The beach was amazing!!! High bluff overlooking the ocean. Some stairs to get down to it but not bad. There were restaurants and banos once you got down there. Area was very good for swimming. Beach was...More

Years ago, I would drive a jeep over a bumpy dirt road to this white sand, turquoise water puebla on the beach. I miss that. Now a bit overcome with condos and gringos, the quaint charm of yesteryear is missing. Nonetheless, well worth a day...More

Love Punta de Mita, the people, the beaches, the food, be aware of the excursions, but the rest is super fun and new.

A little touristy, but a great beach all the same. I recommend going here to get lunch/dinner as you sit by the ocean in really pretty open-air restaurants. You need a car to drive up to Punta De Mita from the city center in Vallarta.

Then the Four Seasons Hotel got built and they blocked the beach access and won't even allow day trippers to come in for lunch. Punta Mita is no longer a scenic sight but a gated community!

We rented a car while there and had no problems. Be advised that renting a car means ACCEPTING THE RENTING AGENCY'S INSURANCE. As you see renting a car is cheap but adding the insurance at often as much as $50 a day adds... More
