What an amazing time spent on the river ! Our guide was fabulous, often reversing the boat, to make sure we all spotted the crocodile, the egret, the blue-green heron, the turtles, the nocturnal owl-like bird. The boat ride was stable and lovely, just the right speed. We stopped at the nearby sanctuario, where there were many more crocs up close,... More

If you are planning a trip to San Blas you must stop here and take the boat tour down the river. Cost was 200 pesos per person and worth every bit. Our guide was Oscar and he made this experience amazing. He would stop along the river and point out the different birds, turtles and the large crocodiles. It was... More

We had a great trip through the mangrove forest and to a clear water swimming area. We saw a few crocodiles, some tropical birds, and lots of beautiful scenery.

While in San Blas on a birding trip we took a La Tovara boat tour with Chencho. The helpful staff at Hotel Garza Canela arranged this for us. This was the highlight of a really fantastic trip to Mexico. Chencho caters his boat tours specifically for birders and gave us the experience of a lifetime. We went slowly up the... More

Take an awesome boat ride and see birds, crocodiles, turtles and more! Make sure when you get to the zoo, you are there in time to see the crocodile feeding (11:45 on a Friday for us) It's amazing to watch! There is also a place you can stop to swim - it's fenced but my guess is you are taking... More

A much delayed review. I remember boating to the springs and swimming in the pool as a young teen. It left a lasting impression. Spectacular. Looking forward to visiting again, as an adult.

We visited Tovara while traveling through Nayarit, Mexico. You find the place on the road traveling from Puerto Vallarta to San Blas. There are parking lots directly at the entrance as well as some small shops and WC. Right at the entrance you can buy the tickets from a guy directly at the docks. You can then board one of... More

The boat ride along the estuary was great. The captain was experienced enough to know what we're looking for and was helpful in finding additional species and accommodations two serious photographers in our group of four. We timed it for sunset at the turnaround and had a fabulous photo opportunity there. It was dark on the way back but the... More
