    Save for snorkeling
Not much to this beach which requires boat access. Beach is not nearly as nice as LaRopa and end to end full of faceless restaurants/bars and constant beach vendors. The snorkeling was best in Zihua that can be accessed by beach. Nice fish and underwater Jesus was quite a site.

    Lovely and Overcrowded
I have mixed feelings about Las Gatas. It’s a lovely beach lined with palm trees and the water is calm, warm and beautiful. However, in the week between Christmas and New Year’s, this narrow beach was overrun with people. It was hard to feel any sense of relaxation between the vendors, fellow tourists, and row after row of restaurateur. Snorkeling was unimpressive, and the underwater Jesus is buried deep in the water outside of the break wall. Like many others on TA, we opted for Otilla’s and had a great spot with two chaise lounges, two Adirondack chairs and a table for eating. Service at Otilla’s was friendly and prompt. If I had it to do over, I would have arrived early and left when the crowds descended.

    day trip
Can be reached by water(from Marina) or walking(Partly rugged, but very doable. Very crowded anytime we've been there. Good food in restaurants where you must eat to get lounge chairs. Service only ok. Washrooms from experience , rough. Snorkelling ok .I stayed behind barrier, may be better outside but current stronger. Be careful of boats coming in and out of beach area.

    Day trip
Take a boat from the main dock in Zihua to Las Gatas for the day. You can rent lawn chairs at anyone of the establishments on the “island” if you stay to eat/drink. The beach is nice but fairly crowded and the water is nice to swim in but the sand underneath is very rocky and difficult/painful to walk on without water shoes

Nice day trip. Sit back at one of the beach restaurants and enjoy the very warm & calm water. Yes, the beach is nicer at La Ropa, but the water here is very warm & clear & lots of great fish viewing. You can swim without having to keep a wary eye on the random large waves. Great spot for kids.

Just want everyone to know there is a path from Playa la Ropa to Playa Las Gatas. It is a bit rugged in places but totally do-able with tennies. Not accurate that you can only get there by boat. The place is very good for snorkeling most days

We always go to thd beachfront restaurant that has the Seahawk flag in front of it. Excellent service that Carlos provides at his restaurant is amazing . He remembers customer that visit every year. Has great suggestions for food. Looks after his customers through their stay, makes sure they gave everything they need.
Love the calm water that is so easy to walk into, no threats of getting knocked down by waves.
We walk there on the rough trail from LA Ropa Beach. Strongly recommend wearing good water shoes or runners. No flip flops on this trail for safety reasons. Water shoes are almost necessary because of all the rock and coral in the water.

Weekends here are mayhem! One shuttle boat after another coming in from Madera Beach. However, a place that should be visited during the week. Crystal clear water, some snorkelling around and very safe swim area for children. The bars and restaurants immediately as you come off the boat are busier than the ones near the end which is where we chose to spend our day. Sun loungers outside the restaurants and margaritas and beer always on hand!

Just go to Restaurant Otilla at the end of the beach and ask for Franco. He was our server and had impeccable service and great suggestions of places to go. Good food and views to die for. Franco was amazing and so helpful. Loved the coconut shrimp.
