I went to Mexico specifically to see the Monarch butterflies at their wintering grounds. An amazing experience: thousands upon thousands of butterflies floating in the air, resting on trees, feeding on flowers and sipping from streams. This miracle is currently being threatened: I recommend you...More

One of the most amazing things you will ever see. But unlike another review, I would go when it is somewhat cloudy, with good chance of sunshine later. When it is cloudy, the butterflies cling to each other on the trees-they look like bee hives....More

Get ready for some hiking! We hiked for about 45 minutes before we got to the actual location where the monarch butterflies clustered together on trees! It was an amazing thing to see and experience! As you enter the park, you are expected to pay...More

We enjoyed our visit to the reserve very much, but I would caution others not to make the same mistake we did, which was to go on a cold, partly cloudy day in January. Didn't realize how weather-sensitive the little guys were until we arrived....More

If you're in good physical shape then I'd say go for it. Know, however, that from the trail head to the colonies it's about a 1.5 mile hike uphill at an altitude of approximately 10,000 ft., so unless you're already... More
