This is a place where much goes on. Its open spaces date back to the 1500, and it is surrounded by hundred's of years of Mexican and Guadalajara history. In one direction you see the Guadalupe Cathedral, with almost 500 years of history. In another...More

This is a great base from which to explore the city. The plaza is large and open. The cathedral stands at one side, and the entire area is the heart of the historic city. It's still its center. For photos and people watching, it's excellent....More

Beautiful historical buildings, street performers, good places to eat. If you are in Guadalajara, don't miss the Plaza. Incidentally, one reviewer noted that Hidalgo established slavery--actually, he denounced slavery.

A large square created in recent years by removal of decrepit buildings. Lovely statue of Hidalgo, who fought to establish slavery. The plaza sits between the central Cathedral, the Teatro Degollado and other historical buildings. Shops on one side offer refreshments and snacks. Very airy...More

The monuments are in Downtown or Centro. Many attractions of the city are in this area. A good taxi driver to hire who speaks good English is Miguel, reachable at - +52+33-14411740. He is reasonably priced, knows the city well, and is reliable.

A must see if you are near by. I wouldn't pay cab fare to be there. Interesting for what it contains as opposed to what it is. Good concert venue. Nice to walk across while viewing neighbouring buildings. People travelling across it. One large, paving...More

The entire plaza is full of interesting things to see, buildings, courtyard, vendors, and interesting displays of artwork such as large brass chairs with very unusual shapes and images. Definitely you should considering going to walk around, especially in the morning or late afternoon.

Plaza de la Liberacion sits between two magnificent pieces of architecture, Teatro Degollado and Cathedral de Guadalajara. So the photo ops are there for the taking. On the weekends it fills up with people so it has a lively vibe with some street performers and...More
