Remember as with all churches, they will be having services so you need to be respectful. There are some wonderful side chapels with stories connected to the fight for independence, the chapel dedicated to the priests and families who hid them during the conflict between the government and the church is very moving.

Okay - very time I see a cathedral like this, I wonder if the money would have been better spent on a hospital for poor people. Ego, ego, ego. But to be fair - ego has given us some outstanding architecture. Internally, this cathedral comes with all the trappings of mysticism and iconography that annoyed Moses so much he broke... More

We were fortunate to walk into this huge historic church during a traditional Mexican (boda) wedding. This is a 17th century grand church built by the Spaniards'.

Wow... enjoy historical buildings and churches whenever traveling. ...and this one is at the top of the list for Mexico. It was a first time visit to Guadalajara, so we stayed in downtown and were able to walk everywhere.

Cathedral is an icon of the city that any tourist should visit. It has more than 300 years and it has four parks in each side which when seen from high made a cross where Cathedral is in the middle. Lot of sight seeing nearby.

We visited during a period of renovation. Unfortunate because the outside looked promising. Insite is very well maintained andvdecorated. It is however, just another cathedral.:)

This is in central Guadalajara and it was built in the 1500's. It is beautiful and open all day. There were many people wandering in and out when we were there. This is not to be missed.

You must visit this cathedral. To see it up close you are left overwhelmed by just the size itself. I also had the chance to attend a mass at a nearby church on Morelos avenue just a few blocks up where children (think from a nearby catholic school)were attending. I think it is one of the nicest masses I have... More
