This is a small museum but gives you a great example of what happened here during that century and what the people here have endured. The staff was very friendly and I recommend you go if you have the opportunity.

I had walked past this museum quite a few times before finally taking a date in. This is a unique place, one block off the main drag, on quiet Calle Positos, just down from the Diego Rivera Museum. The sculptures and paintings were excellent. It shows off the creativity and artistic capabilities of its Mexican artists extremely well. Great works... More

I remember this from Europe. The best art is alienating, but the slightly one step down ... you can lose yourself in it.

We enjoyed the maps and artifacts that show the history of Guanajuato. There are newspapers, portraits, and various slightly stuffy but interesting items.

As with most museums in Guanajuato, English translations are not provided, so in order to get much out of a visit to this museum, an ability to read some Spanish is useful. The museum itself provides a good overview of the history of the area - primarily in the form of pictures and documents and we felt that it was... More
