Huge square with Huge flag the ceremoniously goes up in the morning and comes down around 6pm. Best view is from the restaurant/bar in the Best Western Majestic, enter on Madero. Come a little early for drinks. There is a Aztec site and museum right off the Zocalo. Frequently there are descendants dancing by the site. The National Cathedral. Moneda... More

When visiting Mexico city, a visit to the main square, the Zócalo, is a must. Apart from the sheer size of the square the adjacent buildings are impressive. The cathedral is of course the main building but the national palace and other buildings are quite impressive as well.

City center of Mexico City. Always something going on here. Great starting point to spend a day visiting sites around here. Numerous attractions surround the square. Easy way to spend s day! Plenty of rooftop bars/restaurants. You will be told as you walk along the shopfronts! Do not hail taxis from the street! Go into a store/hotel and ask them... More

Zocalo is one the places in world that send you four hundred year to the past. There are not too many antique monumentals well preserved like this Cathedral church, government building and Square. In the Sunday mornings you can feel the age atmosphere without noice cars, only a few people on this colosal space. This experience is like a time... More

The main square in the historic district of Mexico City is the Zocalo. It is ringed with the Cathedral, National Palace and the Aztec ruins. There is always something going on in the square. We have visited the Zocalo on every trip to Mexico City. We enjoy the museum at the Aztec ruins.

The ancient center of the universe according to the Aztecs and the great Cathedral right next to it, built from rocks and remains of the pyramid ruins by the spaniards. then you see centuries old edifications that sorround the Zocalo and you see the architecture details,... Wanted to knock this out early on our first trip to Mexico City. Large space with TONS of people. The square is impressive and the church is very grandiose. I really was amazed by the enormity of the Mexican flag the hangs in the center of the square. Avoid a mid day visit as the lack of shade could make... More

the cathedral and the templo mayor are in this area. Many monuments and museums are within walking distance, so it is a good place to go walking in one day.

This enormous plaza is awesome if you want to take in the history and understand how modern Mexico came to be. There are many things to do here due to the amount of museums around the area.
